Tried the demo. The head tracking concept is interesting but sonically, TB Isone (which I already own) is comparable. And for that reason, I'm out.

Interesting to hear that it's comparable to TB-Isone.  I was hoping Waves would have something new and improved over that one.

I actually thought the free Beyerdynamic Virtual Studio gave me a more realistic illusion of being in front of monitors than what I could get with Isone.  YMMV.

Cheers,

Don't all these work the same way, by bleeding each channel into the other with a small time delay to emulate HRTF?

I can see a benefit for those who are forced to mix entirely in headphones but want to get an idea of how their mixes will sound on speakers. It might conceivably help those folks make better mixes. But I'm having a hard time making a case for anybody else benefiting from it.

Yes, they're all based on cross feed, delay, EQ and room simulation. I am one of those who mix entirely on headphones in order not to bother my family at 4:30 AM!  Sonarworks has been a huge help and ultimately, my mix gets a listen in my truck on my way to work. Sonarworks has definitely helped me get my mix really close but these speaker simulation plugins have never helped at all. Everyone will have a different experience though!

The Focusrite VMR box is pretty awesome in this niche. Unfortunately it's been discontinued. http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/apr11/articles/focusrite-vrmbox.htm

Yep, that's what I use - bought a second one when they start discontinuing them.

I'm relegated to headphone mixing to prevent my own murder, er, I mean, so as not to disturb my family.  Until I build the barn that will house my personal studio... Well, until I can buy the property where I can build the barn... well, until I can get the money to buy the property to build the barn... You see what I'm up against...
