  • Does anyone *ever* pay full price for a plug-in? (p.2)

Case in point.

Waves IR1 convolution reverb.

List: $249 (which is less than it once was anyway).

Flash sale today only: $29

http://www.waves.com/plug.s/ir1-convolution-reverb

And there's the thing I nearly bought it due to the price yet I need another convo reverb about as much as a Reliant 3 wheeler needs the landing gear of a 747 fitted.  IOW it ain't a bargain to me at any price yet I still had to tie my hands behind my back in order not to buy it.

I've still got another 11 hours to resist or cave in too!

While I hardly ever pay full boat for either hard or soft ware, there are many notable exceptions. These are companies who never (or almost never) put their stuff on sale. And, whose products are the absolute s*#t and/or are ahead of the tech curve. Thankfully this happening less and less.

I can't be the only one who is somewhat confused by your last 2 sentences

Thankfully there are less and less companies making products which are ahead of the tech curve?

Thanks for catching that. What I meant was that there seems to be fewer companies who choose not to discount their wares today. Making purchasing even high quality stuff more attractive. Sorry.

There is also this trend of offering plugins for free for a short time to create a buzz, before jacking it up to full price. Nomad's Bus Driver, excellent plugin. Got it free, retail over $100. NI's Replika, got it free, now $50. Eventide's Ultrachannel. Got it free, now $249 (still can't believe that one).

What always cracks me up are commercials that say something like "A $300 value for only $59!" when NOBODY has ever paid $300 for whatever they are offering.

Heck, my posts are valued at $42 each and you're getting them for free!  What a deal!

I display a modicum of benevolent affinity toward ring-tailed lemurs....
