Out of interest, what kind of music do/did you write Craig? I don't think I've heard anything by you, or have I?

In addition to voice-over work, I did two completely different types:  Rock and trance.  I lost most of my finished work (and all my trance) when I put them on a new type of media for safekeeping (a Panasonic CD/PD - supposed to be secure for 40 years) prior to reformatting and reinstalling.  Ever heard of a PD?  Exactly...  Years of work gone.

Since that happened I mostly played for fun and/or with friends.  I've got some songs that were collaborations with a guy in the UK and a singer in Belgium (we called ourselves Mushroom Farm after the first song we did).  The format was this:  The guy in the UK picked the name of the song then I had to write lyrics to go with it (NOT easy with the choices he came up with - lol!).  One of us created the initial format and/or a riff (he did all the lead work).  It went from there until we were ready to get Bouke (our singer) involved or other help.  I really had to work on Bouke's English since the only style he knew was Country with all the usual twang and warblings.

Here's Mushroom Farm: http://www.nwdreamer.com/download/mushroomFarm-ReMastered.mp3

And, the wonderfully immature, Spanking the Monkey: mushroom-farm-spankingthemonkey-REMASTERED.mp3

Finally, here's a work in progress, where I'm playing all the instruments.  Apologies in advance for the drums, I had only been playing them for two weeks and it shows!  http://www.nwdreamer.com/download/Berry-Jam.mp3

All sounds great, at least they do through my cans. Very good production. Spanking the Monkey has a Zappa sound to it that wouldn't have sounded amiss on something like You Are What You Is.

That little part where the banks stole everything I had and I'm still looking for meaningful work.

(P.S., Thanks!)

Your priorities are wrong.  Use the laptop for games.  Problem solved!

If you tell me how I can cram my three GPUs into the laptop, then maybe ... if I also manage to watercool it, so it is just as silent as the desktop :P (Too many hobbies .. Games, Rendering and Sounds :P).

Fill bath with COLD water (maybe add some ice, just to be sure..)
Place laptop in bath.

Instant water-cooled, silent laptop...

My desire to eat and live under a roof have trumped my desire to make music for the moment so I just have to be content with tapping out a rhythm on things with my fingers.

I'll be back at it someday, probably starting with some computer only program like Reason until I can buy new gear.

Craig , it is all good We all have to make choices and sometimes things have to be put on hold until a better situation has been created ...I've been where your at and I'm not judging your choices ...
I hope you get back ..that's all ...
