Hello Forum,

We have been using Sonar to sequence MIDI Notes and Controllers that then control lights and other special effects through a lighting console. We loaded a Christmas lights show that worked 100% last year and discovered a problem. Some controller envelops work correctly when they are changing but when they hit a portion of the song where the controller does not change they are fading to 0%. The strange thing is the controller on the track loos entirely correct, just a straight line from point to point. We are using Sonar Artist 23.3.0 build 51 (2017.03-x64). We tried to update yesterday to 2017.09 without success. We are trying again now to update. Please advise if this is a known bug or there is setting that we need to change.

Thank you!

I have not had this issue myself. Check that the controller line is solid and not dotted. That could have a different effect. Have you used a midi tool to see if the values are really getting sent out and fading to 0? Check the event list for events in that time that you are not expecting.

Just some thoughts.

Thank you. Yes, we have looked at the MIDI in MIDIOX and it is doing the same thing that our lighting software is doing. Checking for dotted lines and event view now.

Thank You

We just looked at the event list and there are no strange entries there. There are no dotted controller lines. We tried making a new simple file and it has intermitted problems. Seems OK now but did show the problem when it was first created. Updating to 2017.09 did not help.

Thank You,

We found the problem; our lighting controller was sending the controller information back to Sonar. Evan, though we didn't have anything in record mode, it seems like this was causing some kind of MIDI feedback loop. We configured the lighting console to not send the controller and all is well. Strange thing that it worked last year.

THANK YOU FOR THE HELP AND INTEREST IN OUR PROBLEM.
