Can the contents of the programdata/cakewalk/command centre/downloads folder be deleted?

Mine currently contains 7.72Gigabytes of downloaded files including serveral a gigabyte+ in size. I'd rather like to get the space back.

I've moved all the Command Center downloads from my SSD onto another larger drive, not sure I'll ever need them again but who knows ? I think once you've performed the install they're not needed anymore, unless you have a computer catastrophe, and need to re-install, you could save time not having to re-download everything.

Exactly that. But before you reinstall make you either put the files back from whence they came or as scook says below, change C3's location where you put them.

yes, or do as the previous poster suggests, change the download path in C3 and move the contents to the new path. The download path is on the C3 Settings screen, use the gear in the upper right-hand corner of the C3 to access the screen.

Yeah, I've spotted the folder location can be changed. It strikes me that C3 could do with a self-cleanup routine though, because the way it seems to work at present means that folder is only going to get ever bigger.

My other concern is whether those files include stuff like content it seems we should maybe be backing up ourselves. Or not.

I'm wary of "don't ask questions, just sit back while we do it all for you" installers, they often seem to end up making things more complicated than just downloading stuff and installing it myself. :-/

Yes, the folder will consume more space but keep in mind those installers are used for the rollback feature. You can delete them if you wish, rollback can download the missing installer on demand. Maybe with some future release, Cakewalk will be able to use a patch system rather than full installers with each update.

Yes, content is installed using the same process. For example, the Loops and Rapture content in Braintree are in the Anderton Collection installer.

I keep copies of all installers myself regardless of the source going back to my first DOS machine. Why would it be any different  now?

Burn them to DVD and free up HDD space.

You also don't have to keep all the old versions - If I ever feel like space on the alternate drive I moved that folder to, I will go in and delete everything older than 2 versions back.

And to give advice so outdated it made me smile.... What's a DVD?
Modern laptops do not even come with optical drives because manufactures find it's a feature nobody uses anymore.

Hey , while we are on this topic...
I have the two computers.  I keep my Laptop more up to date because it's always on line. My main DAW I like to keep offline but I do  plug it in when I know there's a new juicy tidbit in CCC.
Can I copy the content of my Laptops CCC download folder over to my main DAW and when I run CCC it will use those files to install?? It seems it would speed things up a lot if I didn't download the same thing 2x.  My internet is not that great ( Explornet)
