They should have Tommy Emmanuel with Phil Keaggy next year. Most people would be picking their jaws up off the floor. Can you imagine how good they would be together? That would be SO good. They would likely never consider anything that good though. Ringo Starr and His All-Star Band would also be a good choice.
I wonder if Steely Dan would be up to it.
I bet Dream Theater would put on one heck of a show too. RUSH could be a good choice.
Since the NFL is trying to expand into Europe and have plans to play in Mexico City in the next few years, considering popular European artists might be a great idea. IDK. If they put me in charge you can count on a GOOD show!

Not mainstream/high-profile enough for them.

Ringo Starr and His All-Star Band would also be a good choice.

I think this is one classic act that would definitely fit.

I wonder if Steely Dan would be up to it.

I didn't hear what came of the recent news reports, but given the NFL's recent issues with domestic violence they might not want to go there.

I bet Dream Theater would put on one heck of a show too.

This one I could potentially see.

Indeed.

My wife liked the half-time show. She thought it was colorful and upbeat. She did ask whether the Coldplay singer had some back problem and could not stand-up straight. But at the end he did.

The half-time show reminded me of a MTV music video. it did not look real, like it was digitally processed to look a bit cartoony. I wasn't sure which audience they were targeting. Definitely not me. Questionable though in my eyes whether it was actually better than "Up With People" from SB-16:

I never knew while watching that the Beyonce portion was a statement of some sort.

I did watch the whole game but did not watch the 6-hour pre-game shows, other than a few minutes of the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet. Very cute.

The Carolina QB Cam Newton is such a large man that I couldn't stop watching how huge he looks in the QB position. It just does not look natural in the game (compared to what I am used to seeing). Too bad we did not get to see his best.

All-in-all the Superbowl is probably the most over-hyped-up event in modern history. But it does give anyone interested an excuse for snacking, relaxing, and having a few drinks, and maybe getting together with some like-minded friends. Some years back there was talk of making post-Bowl Monday a national holiday here.  Heck, I'll would take it.

Did anyone watch (and pay attention to) the pre-game music?  They had a nice sized chorus from the various branches of the US armed services singing.  The sound was totally gorgeous - so much so that I couldn't believe they were picking it up from mics on the field - none of which were in evidence in any case.  Could this have been the real thing, or was it an obvious case of a lip-synced production?

By the way, Lady Gaga rocked the Star Spangled Banner like it's never been rocked before, IMO.

Superbowl would have been worse with Metallica or Journey. no one has cared about either of those bands in a long time.

They should have brought in Taylor Swift. Problem is she's sponsored by Coke and Superbowl is Pepsi sponsored. Hell, they should have had Gaga do halftime since she's a crowd worker, too. As much as I hate to admit it, Justin Bieber would have been a good choice to get the younger crowd watching as well.

It's been awhile since we've had a good wardrobe malfunction during half-time too.

Hi,

I'm glad I spent the whole afternoon watching the "Game of Thrones" 4th season ... in its entirety ... I started about 10AM ... and decided that watching the rest of it, was better than a football game ... besides, my Raiders weren't there!

As for halftime Bullpucky ... I gave up a lont time ago. Nothing is so media/push/power driven as it is now, and it is pathetic ... some of these folks are totally fake and lousy entertainers, that rely on stage pyrotechnics to even look half way good, and I am just about tired of legs ... ugly legs and more legs ... and outfits that are better suited for animals on Halloween than they are on people! As James Fox tells Mick Jagger in "Performance" ... you'll look stupid at 60! The stuff on these shows is looking worse every year, and run by people, that obviously make and have way too much money to waste ... it's not even about a show anymore.

I think the last good show I saw, was Michael Jackson. And honestly, most of the shows I saw were not that good. The Who, was specially sad to watch!

I don't think I have watched a Super Bowl for at least 10 to 15 years! This year, to watch a prima donna prance and strut was not exactly my style for "talent" to watch in the Super Bowl.
