I took a break from recording for a little while and kept up with the updates for Sonar Platinum via Steam, so it's all up to date.

However, the program is running quite sluggish.  After I do pretty much anything, it kind of "hangs" for a few seconds.  Very annoying and should not be happening.  My pc spec are MORE than good enough for this program.  Also, I have used it for years with no problem on lesser hardware.

Also.  I was trying to troubleshoot the problem and decided to clean the clipboard.  Well, the program crashed for some stupid reason and it had to exit and when I restarted and went back into the project I was working on EVERYTHING was gone, deleted.  The template is still there but everything we recorded has disappeared.

This shouldn't happen when clearing the clipboard, just past undo's and redo's.

Why did this happen and why is Sonar running so damn sluggishly?  This is very unproductive and inefficient.

I'm recording through 2 Presonus Firestudio Project interfaces.

This lagging/sluggishness is something I've been searching for an answer for, as well. Besides mine, there are a few other posts on here about this. So far, no answers, though.

Use Resplendence latencymon to determine what is happening in your system (?)

Sorry to hear of your troubles. You can recover some of it.
When ever you start a new project in Sonar, it creates an audio folder.
Once you make at least 1 save, Sonar will save that audio folder with what ever project data you have.

So if your project is gone, just go to your projects folder (C:\CakewalkProjects) and find the projects data.
It will be there regardless of the crash or not.

Unless of course you didn't save your project. Then you would have to ask yourself, am I partially to blame for not making 1 save. Now, may ask a question ? why were you clearing the clipboard ?
you should not need to clear the clipboard just to try and save on RAM. Its text data, it uses barely nil.
I have to be honest, I have never used that before. Brando has a great idea, try running LatencyMon.
We will walk you through it.

Did you clean the clipboard while Sonar was open?  It may not like that.

It can be that Windows 10 wants to update your system.  I found that everytime my computer hangs with no visible reason, it's Windows 10 update going on...

I've noticed that several times as well. The sluggishness starts much (sometimes more than a day) before I get the message about available updates. As if Windows started to slowly comb through my system to see what's in there. And I'm in W7 still.
I'm not 100% sure I interpret the symptoms correctly, but that's how it looks like.

Puggles, when is it being sluggish exactly? Is it recording or when processing data/fx?

There's really no magic bullet for this issue as the cause is almost always different on each system. You mention that the visual display seems a bit delayed but the program itself is reacting accordingly.

I did make comment in this thread the other day that did help some users: http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3667534

Also, this may be a reach, but what happens if you hit the [Pause/Break] key while SONAR is open and recording? Does it make it worse or clear it up?

I have found that on my system when Sonar gets sluggish it is because something in the background is running.  Even though I am off-line I have Defender and every time I start my system Defender turns itself back on, so I have to turn it off.  My Ethernet card is disabled and my Win 10 Pro is set to never update.
