Applied Acoustics Systems announces the upcoming release of the Chromaphone 2 creative percussion synthesizer for Mac OS X and Windows

Anaheim, California—January 21, 2016—Applied Acoustics Systems today announced the release of an all-new version of its Chromaphone creative percussion synthesizer.

Chromaphone is a synthesizer which uses acoustic resonators to create drums, percussion, mallet, string, and other unique instruments. Drum skins, bars, marimbas, plates, strings, and tubes are combined into pairs and played by a configurable mallet and a flexible noise source. A proprietary coupling technology which models precisely how vibrating objects interact and influence each other captures key acoustic behaviours of musical instruments resulting in a library of truly expressive instruments in a vast range of sonic colors.

Chromaphone 2 ships with a new streamlined interface, a new equalizer and compressor module, a new multi-effect processor, a new drum skin model, and more. The factory library has been redesigned and includes signature presets by renowned artist and producer Richard Devine and Sean Divine.

“There is nothing quite like Chromaphone with its mix of acoustic modeling and synth-like features. Its sonic palette is very impressive and it reproduces the feel and responsiveness of real-life acoustic instruments,” said Philippe Derogis, CTO of Applied Acoustics Systems, “With this new version, Chromaphone now benefits from a a full multi-effect modules and an arpeggiator which greatly expands its scope but most importantly we have reviewed every module in order to endow Chromaphone with a sharper response and make it even more expressive.“

Pricing and Availability

Chromaphone 2 will be available before the end of the first quarter of 2016 at a suggested retail price of $199. In the meantime, Chromaphone 1 is at the special price of $149 (a $50 discount) and each purchase includes a free upgrade to Chromaphone 2.

Chromaphone runs on both Mac OS X and Windows in 32- and 64-bit host sequencers supporting the VST, Audio Units, RTAS, and AAX Native plug-in formats.

I have Bryan Lee's (Xenos Soundworks: http://xenossoundworks.com/) Alternate Realities patch bank for Chromaphone v1. I also have his Ultra Analog VA-2 bundle, String Studio VS-2 bundle and some very good patch banks for Z3TA+2, Massive, Reaktor Spark and Reaktor Prism.

Bryan stops by this forum from time to time. If you "see" him, say "hi" and give him an extra "thumbs up" on the request I made of him this morning. First, here's his email to me last November:

Hi John,

Your bonus set is attached to this email for you.  Thanks a lot for the kind words :).  Really great to hear when people like my sounds. Chromaphone and UA?  I actually didn't have anything planned for those, but since you asked, I would enjoy making another Chromaphone set.  I have to give first priority to 3rd party projects and stuff that sells well (Chromaphone banks don't) but am going to add a Chromaphone set to the "To Do" list anyway. Should be a nice change of pace after all these NI Massive sets lol.  Take care :).

My request?

A patch bank specifically for Chromaphone v2, one that takes advantage of its advances!

Thanks for the help!

Hey :).  Mr. Lee here lol. Yes, a new Chromaphone set sounds fun.  Really busy with 3rd party work right now, so I can't give a time frame when it will be available.  Once those projects are finished, I still have an unfinished Spire set (House/edm theme) to work on first.
