Originally done in early 2010 with SONAR 8.5 (32 bit) Drums and percussion programmed by me with Dimension Pro and Reason 4 Rewired in. Keys are Tru Pianos Diamond Module, B3 is NI B4. Additional synth overdubs are also Dim Pro.

Now that I've grown to really love the X Series Should I remix this track?

I think this is really well recorded and mixed Matt, not sure you need to remix. There is always something you hear that you think "I could fix that" but eventually you have to let go and realise that it's a job well done.

It sounds good here, view it as that was then, time to move forward something new.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I can live with the mix, it;s just that we had a limited budget and I mastered it myself with Ozone. I would prefer and outside source next time who knows the art of mastering.........I know just enough about mastering to know it's best left to the experts!

Mat do you read Sound on Sound? very interesting article in the February 2014 edition entitled "The loudness war is over"  Talks about Mastering and what it really means and what over pumping a tune will do when these new standards are introduced over the next couple of years.  well worth getting a copy and reading.

One of the best home studio recordings I've ever heard!  I wish I could mix and master like that.  Terrific vocals.  Don't lose this one whatever you do.

I do not hear any problems. Only personal preferences. Maybe a HPF on the lead vox at ~300HZ. Seems to be dulling the vox. But of course I could be wrong the freq.

Move on the your next project.  This has a nice, warm sound with good performances.  The mix is clear and probably could not be improved on by remastering.  It reminded me of The Finn Brothers (Crowded House) or The Eagles.  What more could you want?

well said Lynn-songs can be like your children-sometimes it`s hard to tell when they are fully grown up.
