A few of you guys might remember Emitt Rhodes: he was a musician who released an LP where he played all the instruments six months before Paul Mac did.  Anyway, after a series of fits and starts over the last 40 years he's finally about to release a new CD.  More info at pledgemusic.com/emittrhodes

I remember meeting him about 1972/1973 in his home recording studio. It's kind of what inspired me to "get there" someday (i.e. home recording studio).

I was a huge fan. Still have most all his records...I think...even a couple before he went solo although...of course...Now I can't remember the bands name. Like Todd, he did it all...and pretty well too.

Thanks for the heads up...will definitely check out his new offering.

Would you share a bit of what you remember about that?  Sounds very interesting.

Went back and checked and it was both The Palace Guard and then The Merry Go Round that Emitt played with before going solo.  Your post has also caused me to go back and listen to some of my favorite old Emitt tunes.  Thanks for that!

PS:  Although he WAS royally screwed by ABC/Dunhill back in the day...they actually sued him for $250,000 for not being able to do two complete albums a year for 3 years...he was a dimwit for signing such a thing.  His albums generally took at least a year if not longer to produce.  But such is youth.  I would've gladly signed the same no win contract myself in the early seventies.

Not much to tell. I was looking for a studio to rent for the band I was in and someone turned me on to Emmit. I went over at lunch time to see his studio.

He was gracious but was out of out budget. At the time I only understood what a tape reorder was and that "other stuff" was necessary but a bit fuzzy to me.

This has changed?

Back to Emitt...  I've been trying to figure out why that name sounded so familiar, then I checked my collection and found I actually have two (of, apparently, his three) albums!  Go figure.

He was the other BEATLE right? Recorded everything himself, IIRC. It sounded good too! I didn't know he put out more than one album. The one I remember had his face on the cover.
Unfortunately I remember almost everything, more than most people (except for folks here of course).
