I don't see this as much of a problem.  Plenty of great CPUs still lying around that'll handle w7.

I have yet to discover a reason to move away from 7.  It does everything I want and I could greatly increase performance if I wanted to.  I guess if Sonar no longer ran on 7 I'd have a choice to make.

You mean this is the end of the road for Linux and all other non-Microsoft operating systems? I hear a DOJ anti-trust lawsuit coming.

hmmm okay.  when that eventual day comes I will just go buy a mac and start running logic on it and keep my win7 pro boxes.

I will be like those people holding out on win XP.

It's the same trap or worse.  My AP2496s ran in W2000 system and still work in W10.  With Apple there is a greater risk of legacy hardware with no support.

As for Intel they are trying to reinvent the wheel in CPU performance unless you want more than 4 cores.  Last I seen the prices of an i7 4790K hasn't dropped in price.  AMD's Bulldozers are designed to run better in W8.

But there's nothing new under the sun. Apple creates sheeple, MS creates pissed off people.

Who knows by then we may prefer W10 anyway.  I was very hesitant to move from W2K to XP.  Then again there my be widespread illegal copies of W7.
I thought of buying W8.1 Pro retail licenses which are still available so I can eliminate my W7 Pro OEM. Interesting that major vendors are still selling W7 Pro OEMs.  Too bad MS can't come up with a way of sticking with a winner. They seem to like the distro idea so why not have distros of XP, 7, 8. I guess because supporting them would be a waste of resources.
