Yes, it began with industrial fridge noise and became a glitchy beat thingamy... with yogic chanting...

The Sound of One Fridge Clapping

I would be very interested in some mixing suggestions... if you can spare them...

I quote my soundcloud spiel:
"The Sound of One Fridge Clapping began with a very beautiful refrigerator. I came across it in a deli while travelling interstate. This industrial sized fridge drew my attention as if the universe was talking to me. I took relief in its beautiful soothing hum and a subtle string quartet-like quality to the engine noise. I asked the staff if I could record it, they were curious, but they obliged.
The other samples are from a yoga session with chanting recorded years ago. I thought to use them because the subject matter seemed to express in words the fridge's quite revelation."

sorry, I wasn't being an arse - it really is a very nice chilled out tune - my only mix crit would be that the chanting seems to be a little in your face when it starts. I'm not sure if that's a pure volume thing or if it needs softening with some reverb/delay.

Great piece Wayne. I didn't go much for the chanting. Sort of ruined the wonderful vibe of the piece for me. I didn't hear any refrigerators..:) Maybe it was counter depth so I didn't notice.....

Ahhh, the refrigerator was at the start and half way through.  It's such a wonderful fridge noise maybe it doesnt even sound like a fridge...

Thanks for listening.

Yeah, the chanting was way too up front. I would push them back and/or add some FX. Even better, IMO, record a single voice and affect it so that it surrounds the listener.

Fridge hum was pretty awesome, which just proves that you can never know from where inspiration will come. I think the mix is just fine otherwise.

Dan

Cool track..sorry, someone was going to say it

Enjoyed the music, very relaxing and Vangelis-like. I could live without the chanting though, that kept jolting me out of a nice mood.

For me the chanting made this sound kind of cultish, but everything else seemed to fit together nicely to chill you out.

For me, the sound of one fridge clapping has many connotations.  I enjoyed the mix, although, the chanting seemed out of place.  Otherwise, this is a gem.

I would be tempted to make the chanting much more ethereal, floating in and out across the mix as it did become distracting.

Thanks for sharing.
