The original singer for The Jefferson Airplane's original singer died on the same day as Paul Kantner. It reminds me of how Thomas Jefferson and John Adams died on the same day. Some things are truly ironic.

Hi,

The book on the Jefferson Airplane is on my desk ... I suppose that is next on the agenda. Finished Kim Gordon's and will post review here when I can. I have a vacation week, next week, and hope to get caught up in a thousand things.

I don't see the irony

Yep, I can see the irony, who would ever expect that?

It's very coincidental too.

Nothing needs to be explained....one's irony is one other's coincidence.

It all makes perfect sense to me, and it is sad too....that they both died that is, and on the same day.  When is the last time two band members died on the same day?  Other than a plane crash.

But what's ironic about it?

I must be missing something here

My understanding of irony is something like a traffic cop getting his licence taken away for speeding, or maybe a post on Facebook describing why everyone who posts on FB is an idiot... etc

All I see in the OP is a coincidence.

Yes, coincidence. Thank you for the lesson. At least I'm not alone, but I did learn something. I hope death isn't involved the next time I learn something like this.
I'll leave the post as is even tough it is bad grammar. It seems many need to know: http://blog.dictionary.com/ironic/

Maybe we should Alanis?  She seems to know a lot about what's ironic, ya?

I'm not disagreeing at all, and I'm not one to niggle.

So, with what I know about the events, it is merely coincidental.  Thank you for keeping it real.

However, I did imagine a situation in my mind, where it could be ironic, but that is a construction, which is permitted under the Coffee House norms, I think.
