• SONAR
  • Runtime error [SOLVED]

This morning I was working on a large ongoing Sonar project. I broke off to do a few installations, etc., i.e.:
  • Installed Melodyne Essential
  • Installed and authorized some IK Multimedia softsynths & fx
  • Authorized my UAD plugins
After that, the project would no longer open. It would display 2 or 3 instances of a "Runtime error" dialog box before crashing. At first I assumed that the project was corrupted, but I tried opening several older backup copies of the same project and the result was the same. I took a copy of the project to my old computer and it worked fine there. So the issue is apparently with the current setup. I tried reinstalling Sonar Platinum, but that did not change anything. I tried opening other projects. Most of still open and run ok but a few don't.

I'm running out of ideas.

have you tried "reset and rescan" plugins?
did you reboot before/after the installations?
anything in windows event log?
/hth good luck!

Melodyne uses Visual C++ runtime library. That's where I always start.

Should I reinstall it? The 2015 version?

The latest version from MS. Go right to their site.

I've now installed a more up-to-date version of the 2015 C++ library. I didn't bother with the 2017 one yet, as it's actually newer than any of the installed apps on my computer. No difference though. But then I did a repair install of the 2013 C++ library and this made some difference. Now at least one of the projects that would not open earlier now opens. Most of them still give the same error message or crash later.
