The Band19
I've looked on heaven and earth for my salvation,

Have you checked with the army? "Salvation Army?" :-)

They co-opted Donna Summer, that song, "You can ring my bell?" written about a Salvation Army station outside a Kroger (little known fact)
=====================

All up in there with that Steve Miller vibe again on this one Lynn :-)

I like the percussion/vibs in the background, and the organ. I listen to what goes on behind what's up front.

P.S., I'm taking your dreams away.

Hi Robbie, thanks for your reply.  The fact that you're hearing the nuts and bolts of this song shows how impressive your listening skills are.  And far from taking my dreams away, you made my day!

Interesting arrangement with that Marimba! Nice guitar figures and surprising transitions. Verses remind me a bit of Blood Sweat and tears and early Chicago (if you'd used brass instead of some of the guitars). I like the groove and melodies alot. Mix is fine, perhaps the bass should come up a bit.

@ equality - You hit the nail on the head.  I played in horn bands back in the 60's and had the good fortune to meet Dick Halligan of B,S,&T when they played in Lawrence, Ks during my college days.  The bass did come up this time.

I remixed this just moments ago, taking nearly all your suggestions.  I like this version better, do you?

I think it sounds great man.  Not sure how it sounded before, but it sounds radio quality to me.  I like the separation on the guitars, has a real flavor.  The bass would be my only criticism in that it could have had a more modern sound if it were a little deeper, lower, fatter.  But that's a taste thing, really, and maybe you weren't looking for that.

The song is catchy too.  I was afraid I wasn't going to like it at first, but by the end I was singing along..."Don't take my dreams away...cuz they're not good to you..."  Nice lyric...

I love this mix! On my system it's clean, clear, and sparkly! Late 60's vibe for me which is my favorite! I would have liked a touch more bottom  IMHO. I love the guitars! Great tune here Lynn!!!

I really like this - nice guitar tones and a cool song.

To pick nits, I have to go with others who have wanted something more out of the bass - punchier perhaps.

But this sounds very nice - great job.

Hey, Lynn,

Great song and nice mix!

I remember this one from a while back, and I think you did an excellent job getting clean definition out of a very busy mix with lots of elements and moving parts.

Lots of nice guitar work and cool lead licks popping up all over this, your vocals and harmonies sound dynamite, and as always, you have a very distinctive "fusion" writing and arranging style that works as a great "signature" sound.

I might agree with possibly beefing up the low end just a touch on the drums and bass, but of course that's always a matter of personal taste, and the mix sounds great as is.

This will definitely be a fantastic addition to your upcoming album, Lynn, excellent work!

Have a good one, buddy!
Bob

The link at the top, is that the new mix with more bass? I can certainly hear it clearer now, but then again I'm listening through phones now. Anyway, if it is, I think it gives it a real groove. Wow, the stereo field is mixed VERY well, all instruments are nice and clear

I remember this one from last time round. It's very busy for sure, but you've done a good job in separating things. I'd like to hear the kick a little more in the busier sections, but that's personal taste as much as anything. Maybe back the guitar in the right off a little ? Seemed to be competing with the vox too much in places - typical guitarist turning himself up all the time ! ;)
