After having a new oak floor installed in my studio, I decided that having all my guitars on stands or hanging didn't really work for me anymore. After looking at numerous guitar racks online, I didn't see anything that really solved the issues of having more than 6 guitars and all the related doohickeys, tools, etc. So, I decided to design and build what I wanted. It needed to hold more than 6 guitars and have storage for the extra stuff and have a work bench component. After not doing any wood working since I was in high school but having pretty much all the tools I needed I went to work. Here she is! Solid Red Oak. I haven't installed the drawer pulls yet, but its functional.
Would you mind if I steal your design... Great job on that. you might have a new business adventure here.
Go right ahead Bob. As for a new business venture, I'll pass. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire process, but I worked on it for a couple of hours here and there for about 6 weeks. In total, it was probably about 40 hours of work, but it didn't really feel like work. I'm designing my next project, but it's for enjoyment only. I think the fun would go right out of woodworking if I HAD to do it.
Let me know if you need any tips on your rack. (pun fully intended)
