FXPansion makes me nervous. I -love- BFD3 it is the one and only drumkit I like. However they are pretty Mactarded and I've seen some strange issues, and their support is pretty useless. I'm always really cautious with putting updates on for their stuff because while it works well now, I don't want to break it :)

Such amazing sound though.

I'm guessing, "Mactarded" means that they regard windows as a secondary and lower OS?
That maybe true but all their windows versions work just as well as their Mac versions.

For me their support has been superb, the last time I needed new authorisations it took 7 minutes, at other times it's been 2 or 3 days though. They do seem to have been a bit absent on the forum lately which is unusual but they are a small company compered to others like toontrack.

I have installed every update and beta version of BFD2, BFD Eco and BFD3 and yes, I think I can recall a couple of occasions where the new updates have introduced new bugs so I have gone back to the previous build until a fix has come out, which has generally been pretty quick. As a beta tester thought that's obviously part of my job.

It's the only drum vst I really use, the others are good but just not as good.

It means they design their stuff around a Mac, and don't necessarily have a good understanding how Windows works. A simple example is just to look at their installer: It looks and works like the OS-X installer, it doesn't use a standard MSI Windows install.

A more acute example, also relating to support, is when I was having install issues. Their license manager was blowing up in a very strange way on my system, so I went to them for support. They told me to get the logs out of the Library/Logs directory. That doesn't exist on Windows, that's the Mac's place for storing log files. I let them know that, and provided the only log file I could find, and they never responded.

I exclusively use BFD3 because nothing else comes close in sound or flexibility, and I recommend it to everyone, but I am always a little nervous about updates, given the troubles I've had.
