  • Anyone here using the Era II Medieval Legends library?

If so, I'm curious what you hear in one of the instruments. I been using the library for a while (it's pretty awesome), but only got around to trying out the Juglar Snare for the first time today. And in one of the samples, there is a human voice talking in (I think) German or Dutch. Its quite prominent, and shows up fairly often, as I don't think there is a lot of round robin samples for this particular instrument. It happens on D2 (if C3 is middle C). It's one of the drum roll samples for the Juglar.

I've contacted Best Service customer support about the issue, but I'm curious if anyone else happens to have the library and if you can hear the same thing.

Thanks,
Rob

I'll try to remember to check for this when I get home today. If it's in your copy, I'm sure it's in all of the copies. I'll get back to you later on.

Well, that was fast. I got an email reply back from Best Service customer support this morning, with a zipped update file for the Juglar Snare attached to it. The update also included a fix for a scripting error in the Lute (which I did not know about).

I asked the support folks if this update was already on their site and I simply missed it (I looked for an update before submitting my support request). Their reply:

"No, we've repaired it right away."

You gotta like a company that acts so quickly to fix a problem with their products.

That's actually pretty common. I have a few libraries where you can hear noises or people talking in one or more samples. I suppose it's to be expected when you're speed-recording literally thousands of clips. I just think of it as added authenticity.

I've mentioned some things like this to Eduardo before in Era 1 but they were in the middle of Era 2 so it didn't get fixed until the update was out. Awesome that they did it so quickly.

Can you post the fix to dropbox or something so we can all use it till an official patch comes? :)

Yeah, I've got some libraries with that sort of flaw/feature. In this case, the dialogue in the sample was quite prominent and went on for a couple seconds. I was caught off guard when I first heard it. It was loud enough that I initially thought I had a browser window open somewhere and it had launched an autoplay video ad during automatic refresh.

I don't mind a bit of real life intruding into a sample library, but with a drum patch - where you're hitting the same note over and over - a distinctive sample just tends to stand out more, and not in a good way.

Yeah, I'll do that when I get home this evening.

I figured it would be best to ask the folks at Best Service before I posted or made publicly available the patch that they sent me, since it was not an official update. They said they'd prefer I not post it, and that if anyone needs it they can email Best Service support directly at: support@bestservice.de

No worries. I'll shoot an email over and see if I can get a copy. Thanks for the update.
