Just heard this sad news, the ever witty Wogan seems to have been part of the UK entertainment landscape for as long as I can remember.

That's sad. I have a 'Janet and John' CD compilation somewhere, that was very funny stuff.

From what people have been saying about him, it seems he was very much the genuine, genial gent off screen as well as on.

I remember back in the 70's my boss would always have Radio 2 on in the car. Initally we thought it a bit "un-cool" but quickly came to appreciate how funny Wogan was. A quick sound bite on the TV today from that time. "That was the Bee Gee Sisters" - classic.

Yeah Wogan was desperately uncool but very funny if you listened closely. The "Wogan" chat show was daily viewing in my house in the 80's.
