Something came to my mind. Which country would you choose IF you could nOT live in the country you live now. And I would like you to think it from the stand point of music culture. Which country in your opinion or based on your knowledge would BE most inviting or desirable because of it's flavor of most played or popular music, bands or something else that involves music. Also IF you play in a band it would BE interesting to know which country you think would welcome you best because of the music you play. Also you could say which country you would most likely not want to move to in case you had to move. Also please do think of more ideas in the thread that resemble the ideas I presented so we get some nice discussion going on.
Edit: I would choose America, because I have the feeling it would BE very versatile musically and there are some of my favorite bands.

From the musical point of view we are served pretty well here in the UK. I am out in the sticks a bit which means there is not always much happening on the doorstep, but then again I would not want to live in somewhere like London, Manchester or Birmingham.

I spent several years in Dubai, very little in the way of new local bands with original (western) music but a good scene with plenty of visiting artists. One big advantage over the UK was you did not have to book months in advance to get tickets for major artists.

The local music with its unusual scales is not the freindliest on western ears, but I saw a fantastic orchestra combining arabic and western music into something rather wonderful.

There were also some very good cover bands with hotel residences. Yes, some were "Murf and the Magic Tones" but there were also some hard rocking Filipino bands who were well worth watching.

From a non musical standpoint if I had to relocate and money was no object you would find me the German speaking part of Switzerland somewhere near Luzern.

I'd move back to Australia. I love the culture there. Melbourne in particular has won best place to live/vacation for many years in a row now.

England, It's not hot like this place, I like the accents, and that's where the best bands come from.

Wow, hot place. I actually after seeing series about Aussie land have some time ago dreamt about that country. Ofc series can give very wrong ideas about anything. Thanks for your comment.

Good points. Some good bands like the Queen are from there. I somehow forgot about England. It would BE close to Finland so that country actually might BE better in that sense than USA. Thanks for your comment.

England, back to The Cotswolds where I'm from. I really miss that honey-coloured stone, it's all grey granite up here. Unfortunately I can't afford to move back now, looks like it was a one-way ticket.

That place looks like a dream. No wonder you would like to go back there. Sorry to hear about the difficulty getting back.
