Meh, think I'll stay right here in New York. I don't feel like living anywhere else now. Other places are nice for a relaxing visit but in the end they're just not stimulating enough for me. I'll go upstate to see a friend every now and then and while the surroundings are beautiful, in the end I find the silence stifling and oppressive and when I get off the train at Grand Central and walk out into the hum of the city and look up at the skyscrapers it feels so good to be home. There is so much culture and art and excitement here, I only have to take the subway to see world class musicians playing amazing music.

California always looks nice to me on the TV although I've never been. We've been watching Transparent on Amazon Prime recently, the show with Jeffry Tambor as the cross dressing father who comes out to his adult kids, and I'm always blown away by how beautiful and colorful everything looks. Not sure I could cope with that much sunshine though, I like the odd sunny day but when EVERY day is just non stop blue skies it tends to get on my nerves after a while. Having grown up in Newcastle with the biting North Sea winds and constantly overcast skies I do feel more comfortable and "alive" with inclement weather.

It is great you live in your dream place. I am pretty satisfied with Finland also. Although the cold winters are not my favorite things. Thanks for your comment!

Another hot place I presume. I have seen some films about it and it looks nice there. Thanks for commenting.

It can get warm in the North Island. Down south the is plenty of skiing in the winter. I do wonder how many Kiwis are actually still living there however. They certainly get around, they have to be the number one (afluent) nationality for going to live somewhere else.

Thanks for the info and for commenting. Interesting. I am glad I started this threadbecause I am actually learning new stuff. And maybe some others are learning something new too.

We moved here from Canada and I'd do it all over again.

However, I make a distinction between musical opportunities/local scene and "culture".

If it were a matter of culture, I'd probably move to Vienna. In the 18th century... But for the rest? Vegas it is for us.

I'd probably move from Vancouver (USA) to Vancouver (B.C., Canada).
