Hello Songs forum fans! Long time no contribute. This place always makes me little nervous somehow. Performance anxiety on a forum? Gimme a break.

Anyway, here's a good example of just how little of all this fancy technology I actually need and use in a typical project these days. Just me, a MIDI track, and a couple keyboard synths. Nary a soft synth, and barely a plugin in sight. I had recorded a simple drum track to go with it at one point - a vaguely military-sounding snare riff. I thought it sounded appropriately "funereal" for the mood of the piece, but the wife vetoed it. And so it remains unadorned at this point. How Love Fled:

Dave, that was really nice because of its unadornment.  It's understated quite well and has a world of potential.  Shows you the value of a good performance.  Keep us posted!

Very lovely sound, melody and chords.  I can hear vocals.  Good luck with it.

Thanks for listening, Lynn and Jimmy. The original thought when the Yeats poem-inspired title came up was for the poem to become song lyrics. That could still happen, but I think some "poetic license" might need to be taken with the words to make it fit musically. We shall see. Some sort of melodic accompaniment will likely happen in any case.

Nice to see you down here.  It is good when it just flows and there in nothing wrong with minimalism when the music is this good.

Thanks for sharing, I and others, I sus-p-e-c-t, look forward to more.

Dave,

Very inspiring piece.   It stands one it's own as is but I think your wife has made a great suggestion using the words of the Yeat's poem as a framework or base.   Look forward more.

Hi Dave,

I like your playing on this song a lot ….sounds great just the way it is

your timing and feel is tight and it puts the song across w out needing drums  ...

I agree with Kenny no drums needed and certainly not a skinny funeral snare. If you do put drums to this big drums might work, like EWQL Storm Drums. The piano and key board playing is on the money and tight for sure. Very nicely done.

Peace and Blessings, John

Very, very nice playing Dave, I was thoroughly entertained, and really felt this piece. I think I would like to hear it played on an acoustic grand piano, although there is nothing wrong with the piece per se, the timbre of said grand piano would take it to another level entirely. You do have some very creative bones in you.

whack
yes, yes and yes. I love this bro.

It just works. I can totally feel myself drifting through the clouds on this one, upwards that is!

Melody is awesome and the piano is played nice and tight, and pretty simple too.

The yeats poem framework is a great idea. If you need someone to help you out with that, shout, I think I could offer something.

It does stand on its own two feet, but you definitely can hear a war drum in the background.

Well done,

Cian
