Well it hasn't happened once today. There are three major variables that are different from yesterday:

  • My mouse was fully charged
  • I didn't have my MIDI keyboard on
  • I raised the latency a little because I was getting some pops and clicks when the Now time passed over the edge of clips. However, I did ths later in the day, so it may not have influended the bahavior as much since it was fine before I adjusted the latency.

OK, it was happening again yesterday, but this time in the console view. It did it 8, or 10 times - the now time wouldn't move at all while the music played. Once it even started and then stopped after getting to around measure 2. Then it started working again and I didn't have anymore problems with it. All of this was with less hardware enabled than the previous times.

Update to my original query.

I tried using the WDM driver instead of the Asio and that did seem to cure the problem and then I got a new ATI Radeon 9600PRO graphics card which unlike my old nVidia one supported dirX 9 and since then it has been fine even using the ASIO driver.

Of course it might just be coincidence!

That is why I am here as well. The vertical cursor gets stuck and won't  move with any audio playback. From what it looks like in this forum, there is no suggested way as to resolve this issue. Must be an issue with the software. My computer is more than capable of running this software easily. I would hate to pass on purchasing this product fully for such a minute, yet extremely annoying issue. It would definitely make pinpoint areas of interest within the wave file close to impossible to deal with.

I FINALLY FIGURED SOMETHING OUT!!!

Well, this worked for me easily. You have to go the "EDIT" option in the upper left hand corner of the screen and go down to "PREFERENCES"... Click on that. Once you have down that, go to the "PLAYBACK AND RECORDING", what worked for me is switching from "ASIO" to the WDM/KS" setting" then hitting "APPLY". Sounds great and the cursor moves.

NOTE: I noticed while experimenting with this that if you select the "WASIPI SHARED", the cursor would move, but the audio quality takes a serious blow for the worst. At least that was the case for me.
