Anyone compared Sonarworks Speaker with ARC 2 for room correction?  Curious as to what people think.  Might have to download the trial from Sonarworks and see what I think compared to ARC 2.  The original ARC seems to take a bit of a beating on here.  I've been fairly happy with ARC2, but I tried to fix things with treatment first and I also did a fairly extensive set of measurements - 14 points.  The measurements reflected what I expected - a large bass correction was needed in my right monitor (it's only about 6 inches off the wall at the corner), which I can't help given my space constraints (space is FAR from cheap in SF these days!!!).

Let me know if you've compared, please.  Thanks.

I use Sonarworks Speaker and Headphone cal software. I have not used ARC or ARC2 since I started using Sonarworks. I highly recommend both! Try the demo and use your ARC2 mic, I think you will like it!

I made the initial change to Sonarworks because ARC2 only allows one instance using a different correction curve.
If you have more than one set of monitors and want to have ARC2 on multiple buses with different correction curves you can't do it. The original ARC would allow this but not ARC2.

When I made the change over to Sonarworks I was blown away by the measurement process that only takes about 20 minutes total to do a Full measurement session. No templates and tedious moving things around to measure. I use to spend an entire morning setting up and doing a measurement session with ARC2.

When I first used it I noticed a big difference in the sound as it no longer sounds like it is thin, hollow, harsh, and highly filtered as ARC2 always did. It does fix my 125-250Hz issues yet does not thin out the mids as ARC2 did. Things sound defined and mixes translate as well as ARC2 did.

I did upgrade the Speaker correction software to the HD version and I can see some difference in the correction curves when taking more than 30 measurement points but I can't really hear enough difference to warrant the cost unless you find it on sale. YMMV.

Also, If you use phones much, and have a set they offer a correction curve for, you really should give it a try also. I never use phones without it anymore.

Last but not least, Sonarworks support and service is Great! They respond quickly and are willing to Listen to their Customers, I have never had a bad experience with them.

Kind regards,
Rick

Same, uninstalled ARC after getting this, totally IK free now.

I have done exactly the same, Arc 2 was some improvement in my room but Sonarworks is another big step up from it.
The bass correction seemed a little over heavy in Arc as well as seemingly a thin in the highs.

I have A/B back and forward with projects and thanks to the free audio cable and pedalboard have been able to listen to all my commercial music through it as well. The result is a much quicker mixing process and more confidence in any adjustments that I am making.

I would highly recommend it to anyone with less than a perfect room, or even if you have some degree of treatment

Thanks all.  I downloaded the trial last night - both the speaker and the phones version (they supposedly have just done the KRK KNS-8400 phones which I have).  I got through a quick measurement using the mic from my ARC2 kit (30 spots)  nice and easy.  I was really impressed with them 'finding the mic' and not having to worry about exact positioning - nice!
When I went to check my results it looks like the plugin wasn't installed.  It was getting late at that point though so I quit there.  I'll try re-installing and contact them if that doesn't fix it.  I assume the plugin is still supposed to be installed in the trial so you can evaluate the results, right?  The trial would be a bit pointless otherwise.

yes, it should have installed the correction vst... & measurement software.

Thanks RT55.  Yeah, the measurement software installed just fine (I was able to make measurements), but not the VST.  It may have been because I ran the headphone SW installer after I ran the Speaker SW installer.  So I'll rerun just the Speaker SW tonight and if that doesn't work I'll contact them.

Cheers!

Ok, so the re-install still didn't install the plugin, even though it sure went through the motions.  Time to contact them.

It sounds like that would be the best bet. Maybe a corrupt download.

Not sure if this is the problem but look at the top right on the gui.
There's a speaker & headphone icon with a selection switch.
