I think the name of the headphone plugin is: Reference3.dll

you might want to search your drive for it and make sure it was put in the correct place so the scan can find it.

So here's some proof it didn't install I guess.  Also, carl, not sure where the icons you're talking about are as you can see from this, too.

Hi rtucker55.  Is that the 32 or 64 bit?  64 is usually listed as part of the name.  I can just use a wildcard in the search and that should get it.  Thanks!

Nothing turned up in the search.  Guess I'll just have to wait to hear back from them.

Yes, contact Karl.
I had a similar problem. Can't remember exactly what the issue was but he had to deactivate the previous registration and issue a new one.

@SF: Please post your followup I'm interested to see if it works out for you. I have ARC2 and it's definitely an improvement in my somewhat treated room, but If it's a step up from ARC2, I may have to get it. I will probably get the plugin for the headphones at least though.

Hi friends .... I wonder if sonarworks guyz ha noticed more latency than arc ... I read somewhere that it was the case ...since it s supposed to be used even at the production stage , this is something that botherscme before making the jump ....arc 2 user here

Hi Zo,

I Was an ARC and ARC2 user but never was satisfied with the slightly thin, hollow, harsh sound of it. I bought into SonarWorks when they were first announced.

Started with the headphone correction software for the AKG k701's and K240 studio. I didn't think the k701's could be any more clear/defined, in the mids, but they were. The K240's still had a little too much low end hype though. I mentioned this to the SonarWorks guys and next thing I knew was they released a modification so the stock correction curve could be modified by the user and I could now reduce the low end of the K240's. That's Customer Service! Latency, not so much with the headphone correction and, IIRC, it can be changed. Really don't need the headphone correction for tracking so any latency is a moot point...

I then purchased the speaker correction software. I was able to correct the speakers in about 15minutes and it had a very natural sound vs. ARC(2). Depending on the accuracy of the correction it will cause some latency but you can change this with a slider on the UI. I have no problem tracking on the studio monitors if I reduce the amount of accuracy and it still sounds much better the the prior product I was using. Seriously, I prefer tracking with the cans on so again it becomes a moot point...

I liked it enough that I then Purchased the Ref HD version for speaker correction at the desk and I still use the standard for the portable setup. The HD version may not be necessary but will allow more measurement points to be included in the correction file among some other special things that are mentioned on Sonarworks website.

In short, Yes, it can induce some latency but the sound is so much more pleasing than using the old product. I believe they do offer trials so you could try this yourself and there were several threads about it in this forum. IIRC some even used the ARC mic to take the measurements so they did not have to wait for something to be shipped.

You really should give it a try as it is all subjective...

Kind regards,
Rick

I tried the headphones one .... and wasn t that conviced ....i like to keep some listening tools uncaibrated to see how a mix translate ....

One more thing that gets on my nerve is the buying system ...i want to try this ans validate it for students but they re already lost ...the fuyz talks "instances" while it seems to be authorisations .... or i don t get it ever .... cause for me instances are possible multiple running software in a session ...of the same product ....

I wanted to get a bundle

"

The bundle includes:

  • 1 instance of Sonarworks Reference 3 speaker and room calibrator software (Mac or Win)
  • instances of Sonarworks Reference 3 speaker calibration AU, AAX Native, RTAS and VST plug-ins (Mac or Win)
  • 3 instances of Sonarworks Reference 3 headphone calibration AU, AAX Native, RTAS and VST plug-ins (Mac or Win)
  • Professional measurement microphone with XLR connection and individual calibration
"
I don t even know if i can make a measurement on my desktop and then on my laptop ( to show students how to do it at cours )

they should really be simplier and less paranoid ... they loose more costumers than protecting themselve against piracy or some ....

I have a desktop , an hp elitebook for on the go pro work and a dell xps for school and quik on the go production ....
While i will be ok with headphone app ... can t see how to do for room calibration on the go ....

Since the measurements seem to be less regardant to mic positions , do you find the sweet spot large or narrow à imaging more precise than arc one ?
