"Anyone else boycotting the Oscars?"
i never watch it anyway,
so i could care less what's going on.
actors, patting themselves on the back for being good at pretending?
heheh
now, the guy that invents a cheap way to Provide Energy from Fusion.....
i'd watch that award.
Big oil would buy the patent and bury it. If someone invented a "perpetual motion" engine, they would kill him and bury the technology. It's all about money and power, from Oscars, to energy, to well.. everything. Diversity is about power and money (power=money=power) the "people" figure in the equation nowhere.
I've often wondered why people who have a talent for pretending to be someone else always seem to become experts is almost everything. You are right though, it is just an exclusive group patting each other on the back. It is strange and it is frightening how so many people lap it up. I guess we all like to live vicariously at some time or another and at some level or another but actors should keep their ego in check.
It is also shocking how much nepotism there is in Hollywood.
On the other hand. There just under 6,000 voting members of the Academy and 33% are former Oscar nominees, 19% winners (as of a few years ago, per WIKI). So, it seems to me that since it is nearly 6,000 and not 10 or 20 people voting, it adds a little more credibility. I still don't care and wont watch though.
I do want to see The Revenant.
