I'm looking for a program that can generate chord scales and show them on the entire neck. Say I have the voicing 1-2-5 and I want a quick reference to the complete chord scale for the rest of the neck. Does anyone know of a software program that does this?
If I have a note combination that sounds good on a given chord function I need to be able to project or have the software calculate the possibilities on the neck

 Thanks for any help!

I don't know of software that can do that, sorry. But thought I'd hop on here to make sure I see the answer if you get one!

When I was in my younger days I wrote out all the fingers for quartal harmonies and the inversions. It took awhile. I've talked to some guys that tell me about all the software out there that can do about anything. I was playing a tune I was working on and came up with a open voicing and thought it would be great if I could just hit a button and have the inversions laid out on the neck. It may be wishful thinking

I'm not a beginner and not looking for standard M7,dom7, or min7 fingerings.
software that shows the neck where I could put in the voicing or scale and have the program show the inversions etc.
It would be a handy writing tool to have

I just found a program I've heard of before named Guitar Pro. Looks mostly like notation software

Years ago I wrote a program on the Amiga which did everything you're asking for. It showed every chord and scale on the neck in every key, and as well as having hundreds of preset fingerings for every chord type (including all the wacky jazz chords), it also had an algorithm which worked out every possible fingering of a chord between the limits of two specified frets. It also worked on scales, so you could click on a scale and it would show you every possible chord that can be created from that scale.

It would also give you every possible chord name for notes that you clicked on the neck, as well as tell you which larger chords (and scales) contained those notes, and which smaller chords were contained within those notes. Did lots of other stuff too. Basically a Swiss army knife for guitar players. It got featured on a couple of magazine cover discs. Damn if I had the time I would rewrite it for Windows....

Thanks Bob I will check it out.
sharke - I'm getting lazy in my old age. I don't seem to have the energy these days to do all that kind of stuff. Sounds like a great program you developed! If you ever convert it to windows please let me know
