Wayne Joseph Kington
I have been a Sonar user for a long time now.  But only just joined this forum!

Anyway, thought I would introduce myself by sharing my latest piece. The piece is in a minimalist/classical/fusion style.

It's for piano, trombone, trumpet, bass, double bass, cello, viola, three violins, two clarinets, harp and harpsichord (and cymbal!). And was hell to mix...

I can't add a link as I am that new to the forum... I guess you could look me up on soundcloud and listen to The Bright Window if you were keen.  Sorry I can't add a link yet.

cheers
W.

Oh, and apparently none of my links work.  I just read I have to contribute 25 posts first before I can post any links...

Ok, I did a search and found you. Very well recorded and a lovely piece of classical music, well written, and although in your terms, simple, I found it quite interesting. I'm not sure what sort of fusion it is, and I wouldn't call it too minimalist, there are a lot of things happening in spots.
The piano, in particular, is well recorded, being a piano player myself I appreciate well recorded keys. The mix was fine, I thought maybe the violin or string instrument at the start, and at other times in the piece was a little soft, I wanted to really hear what it was playing.
Classical/fusion is my thing, I don't really care much what it is fused with, as long as there is a solid rhythm to it I will listen all day. I didn't get a chance to listen to your other tunes, I'll wait till you post them with a blurb on what they are about. All in all a VERY NICE START and look forward to more.
Have a listen to a few of the songs posted here and give your thoughts, that'll get your post count up, and we would all like to hear your take on what others have written.

Like Rebel007 I had a search on Soundcloud and found your tune.

Interesting piece as noted sounds well played and recorded.

Thanks for sharing.

Just a suggestion have a listen to some of the other submissions here in the songs forum and leave a comment even if it just to say you like, enjoyed or even it did nothing for you.  That will soon raise the PC to enable you to add links.

Thanks rebel and wookie for the comment, and going to the effort of finding it on Soundcloud!

Yes, production values are important to me, I try to keep it polished.

I love classical fusion rebel.  I listen to it at home HEAPS.  I don't always write in that style, but I'm a big fan.  So will be keen to check out your tracks more.

Hmmmm yes, volume of the strings...  I thought about that a lot.  I decided that trombone and piano were really the main instruments.  In order to reduce the chance of making a cacophony, I took a choice to reduce the volume of 'the supporting instruments'.  The clarinets are barely audible, for example.  As a producer, I like the approach of mixing in layers.  As a composer it irks me.  I will have another listen.

Cheers.
