I'll defer to Simeon as I haven't used it in a while and had issues with it then. Never had Sonar 7 either, I went from 5 to X after a long dark gap called Chapter 7.

Hi,
Michael and Simeon. Can you explain me how to get Groove Agent 2 working with Sonar 7.
I was able to ouput MIDI from GA synth to my MIDI track and record something, but the MIDI recorded is not well formated. It's like the notes are in lower part of the clip and it's not recording the drumkit properly.

Many years ago I get GA working properly with Sonar but know I'm missing something or maybe something is wrong with my software/hardware.

Thanks

There are a couple of settings that will help map out the drum notes. I will have to go back and take a look.
I will try and put something together to demonstrate how to do this. Not promising anything before Christmas ;^) but we can see how it goes.

I got a video link from Steinberg RE Groove Agent 4 the other day and that got me going on finding out more about it. I do wonder if anyone is using GA4 in SPLAT. Anyone????

Here is the SOS review
http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jun15/articles/steinberg-groove-agent-4.htm
and here is (one of several) the Steinberg video tour of the acoustic kits.

There are other ones on the Percussion Agent and Beat Agent, etc

Anyway, the $99 upgrade from GA2 to 4 has got me wondering about using it in SPLAT.

I just finished an updated video describing how to get the MIDI Output from Groove Agent to work inside of SONAR. I am using SONAR Platinum but the techniques should transfer to all versions of SONAR that support the VST MIDI functions in the respective Bitbridge wrapper.

Let me know if you had any additional questions.

Thank you, Simeon! That's the best news I've had all year. LOL I am very glad for that review/refresher tut and hope to try it out today.
Happy 2016, indeed!

I've been using GA4 a bit lately. It has many features and sounds great but for me at least it took a bit to wrap my head around how it works. I wish they would add a song creator timeline like ezdrummer instead of relying on the daw to trigger patterns because in cubase at least the drum map implementation while cool, doesn't totally sync right when using different midi ports for patterns vs kit pieces. GA4 though is nice with the ability to automate the complexity XY pad.

Since I have my laptop out in my tracking room, can I just copy that GA2 folder and install it on that machine taking the dongle back and forth as I change rooms?
