Enjoyed the listen. Very good vocal and piano. Great range on the vocal.

A wonderful rendition of one of my favourite classics.
The only thing I'd change would be to let the final orchestral hit take more time in fading out. Seriously, that's ALL I'd change.
I'm left a bit envious of your vocal abilities. When I was younger (about the time this tune was playing on the radio, in fact) I was working on building up the strength in my upper register and could, at the best of times, hit some of those high notes while standing on a ladder. But these days, not so much. I'm left flaying around and stretching for those high notes like a blindfolded kid swatting at a piñata.

Thanks Ron, I'm still able to hit them, but not as well as I could :-( It's only a matter of time...

Robby, you've got a great voice, but when it overpowers Janet's piano, it's too upfront in the mix. Really like the way everything comes together towards the end. All around, well done!

Regards,
Dan

Thanks Dan, you and Scotty were right, I pulled them back quite a bit, and widened the orchestra per John, also rubbed a little Alloy on the strings, put a bit more omph on the kick and Tymps, changes to some of the panning, etc... You know it's a sickness.

Sorry, don't mean to post under two IDs, the other is from the DAW and it was banned for some time. I need to get them both on the same login. I'm still not happy with the vocals, they are distorting or something. I need to look at the signal path. It's getting better though hopefully. I still owe Janet some .wav files, that's what got me back on this one.

I think I found the major culprits? I had some excitation "problems" on the vox, and I was compressing them twice, and trying to EQ the distortion out? It was a mess... I think this may be a good starting point and hopefully ending poing. I tried to get the vox "to sit better" They were misbehaving before.

Not sure why this can't be easier... I want to go to Staples and get an easy button.

Nice one Robby. Take out that Bill Murray clip, it absolutely ruins the power of the 'sail on, silver girl' line, in fact it detracts from the entire song. Is that a celeste in my right ear?

Meant to say, and Herb's post reminded me..I might brighten up the piano a touch. Garfunkel had such a high, keening voice, whereas yours shares a few more frequencies with the piano I'd say, maybe try and separate them a little more. Volume seems about right though.

Wow!  An iconic song and a tough one to cover.  You did it very well and you captured that wall of sound from the original, and the dynamic as it builds throughout the song.

I was in my senior year of high school (or was it junior year?) when this song was on the radio. I recall setting down at a piano in music theory class ( a class with 4 people in it) and one of the girls sat down and we played this song....

nice job.... I recall this from the past.  I too think you should drop the voice over in the solo area.... it's distracting and out of character with the song.

Ditto on envelopes on the vox. there are places where it should be louder and others where it needs to come down. listen with a critical ear.

One other thing ... on this computer's speakers, the piano could stand to be just a bit brighter.

good overall remix.  but get back to me on January 18th, 2017.

we're obviously thinking the same.... got to pick up every stitch..... must be the season of the remix.

OK, I'm on it, mixed for several hrs tonight after the boy went to bed, it's better? But it's not presentable (re) yet... I really appreciate the help I get from people who know what the hell they are doing.

Ok, just got finished remixing for what I hope (and believe) will be the last time, however! Many changes were made based on people's most excellent advice! So PLEASE! If I enjoyed the pooch? Please feel free to say so. I "reluctantly" removed Bill Murry from the mix, but it seemed unanimous, so I would have been foolish not to do so. "Many" other changes... Many per people's advice, and some just from me listening multiple times.

Thanks so much.
