No, I mean the string part/melody works fine without any further development. The drums are OK, but could maybe use some bass to help them along, they seem a little lonely

thanks .. am pleasantly surprised something sounding as nice as the string do, came from me (or through me) ...
'seem a little lonely' ... haa .. i'll try give them some lower tone company soon man ...
cheers again

Yep, I like it. I too thought that maybe the hats were a little "in your face" at the start, but then I think I heard what you were trying to do and really got into their sound, as a kind of solo percussion effect. I just sat and listened, without watching the video, and it came across as a lovely instrumental.

thats a lovely response to read .. thanks man ..
yeah .. they were a bit lower .. blended into the background more ... and felt they worked better nudged up a bit .. now am kinda on the fence, cos i appreciate theyre not to everyones taste .. but personally still like them myself .. cd maybe go down a notch .. they may need rejigged anyway if i add something a bit deeper, bassier in ..

will give it some thought
cheers rebel

cheers for the sarcasm .. it served no purpose other than making me respond in annoyance, and getin my silly post count up one ..

i could do the things you said .. or choose not to .. i certainly dont need the obvious pointing out to me tho .. if this is what you share with me just now .. i doubt i want you to shzre your opinion of my tune ..

yes .. i have also been a member of the forum for quite some time .. and did go in other peoples threads .. and felt completely intimidated by them .. and when i gave my opinion, i was reminded to be sure to share my next tune .. pretty much put in my place with attitude .. pretty much the same attitude you juse came across with

so as you like to point out how i want people to give their opinion on my tune, an d am not doing the same for others ... maybe a bit less finger pointing, and more understaning .. am not guilty of the reason as to why you suspect i dont post so often in the forum ... its because i feel copletely out my depth ... and mainly due to people like you with attitudes lioke that...

instead of saying what i want to say to you .. i will say .. god bless

FWIW I meant what I said in good humour. I thought being a native of glasgow that you would understand the humour. Seems not.

However, the point remains that you are asking people to take their time to listen and help you, so it's maybe not too much to ask to invest a little of your time to help others ? I'm not an advocate of .... I just listened to you so now you have to listen to me or anything like that, but right or wrong, I do tend to avoid those whose name never appears in any thread but their own. It comes across to me as...... I'm not interested in you lot, let's talk about me and the amount of people here now who participate solely in their own threads is a big reason why I don't bother with this forum nearly as much as I used to. I know for fact that I'm not alone in that view. Big deal, you may say, who are you guys anyway ? What makes you think that anyone cares if you're here or not ? I'm sure many don't, but at  same time every person who used to make an active and positive contribution who no longer does is ultimately a detriment to the community as a whole. There are some great people from this forum from whom I have learned a lot and even had the immense privilege to have subsequently worked with and then learnt ten times more, who also no longer bother with it because of the me, me, me culture that seems to have become prevalent here.

I totally understand that you may not consider yourself capable of giving any insightful composition or killer mixing tips etc to people who on the face of it are several leagues ahead of you already as that also applies myself and to most of us.  I'm no kind of expert, but anyone with any degree of ability can say ......I listened, I liked the guitar sound / love that reverb / what did you use for the drums ? / I can't quite hear the singer, maybe turn them up a bit ? It's all subjective anyway, just opinions and you can end up chasing your tail if you try and keep everyone happy, but on the other hand if ten people, whatever their level of ability, all tell you the vocalist is too quiet, there's a fair chance that it's too quiet. This is all valid information that will lead you to re-examine your perceptions and ultimately to better mixes, which is what this is all about, no ? Not only that but there is some major talent in these parts and we should all celebrate that.

Do as you like, it isn't up to me or anyone else, but i still think that a little effort on your part will probably reap greater rewards for you and benefit the community as a whole.

wasnt gonna bother replying to your post as its completly off topic, and detracts from why i created this thread ...

i agree with many of your principles .. i was self aware of these principles whjen i joined waaay back when i did ...

after creating my silly tune .. i then perused the forums .. and tried to participate .. and came away feeling like a twat trying to join in where he didnt fit or belong ...

so while you feel you want to leave the forum for the reason you state .. i also left the forum, cos i felt it was too difficult to become part of this community .. there were many lovely people .. and many twats, who, instead of making their first encounter with me a nice pleasant one .. they come in with their attitude, posts showing they clearly intend to rub up the wrong way rather than be nice .. then pretend it was good humour ...

now .. i did not create this problem the forum faces .. clearly the epxerts do not want me waffling my uneducated non musical opinions with them .. and so i get to receieve your ... 'humour' ?
perhaps the solution ois to have a forum for teh experts .. and one for the amateurs .. the experts are welcome to come and help out teh amateurs as they please .. and amateurs may not feel so intimidated being in with the bigger fish .. i dont know .. and at this point, I dont care for the solution ...

coming in and trashing my thread with your principles, and accusing me, as though i am actually guilty of it .. when i myself tried to make sure i wasnt guilty of this last year, and gavce up and left the forum for the attitude i felt i received for doing exactly what you say i should be doing ...

i started this thread to ask what people thought of my tune... not read the crap you sent me ... gold member or not ..
coming in and ranting the way you did is just wrong .. and i am the king of using sarcasm as humour .. i always appreciate sarcasm used as humour correctly ... yours had zero humour...  was just sarcasm to get a point across  that i dont even think im actually guilty of when you look a bit deeper instead of just finger pointing ...

end of ...

I quite enjoyed the tune, however I found the HH/Cymbal thing a might distracting.  It could also so do with some body and weight in the low middle and bottom.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing.
