Trying to start Sonar Platinum I get an error:  "c:\program files\cakewalk\sonar platinum\ttslame.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or contains an error.   Try installing the software again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support."

I've been using Sonar Platinum for 9 months without issue, running on a Dell Inspiron laptop with Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit.

When I check ttslame.dll it has 0 bytes and shows DateModified as the time that I tried to open Sonar.

I see that there are options online to download ttslame.dll.  I'm wondering if it's possible to just replace ttslame.dll without having to uninstall and reinstall Sonar Platinum.

Here's how I've been overcoming this issue. For some reason, every time I update Cakewalk, TTSLAME.dll and CJLibrary.dll become corrupted. You can spot this by looking in the C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Sonar Platinum directory where you will see that the file size for these two has changed 0 kb.
To fix this the first time, I used the Command Center to reinstall SPLAT.
Before going any further, I copied the entire directory into a backup folder.
Now, if I get the error message, I simply recopy the backup files into the SPLAT directory. This will get you backup and running. It's a plus that I usually won't have a repeat occurance until the next round of updates.
I've seen quite a few post regarding this issue on the Forum lately. So, you're not the only one having the issue. It might be something the bakers want to look into.
I hope this helps you get up and running

Is there real-time virus protection turned on? Maybe it thinks Sonar is attacking the system. I dunno...

The two most likely reasons for a DLL ending up with 0 bytes: directory (disk) corruption, or a virus or other rogue program attempting to open the file for writing. Run a deep scan on the drive to assess its health, as well as every malware detector you have on hand.

That's also been my suspicion.

I have experienced this issue.  It could be fixed by opening CCC and doing a roll-back or update - something to change the files.

I have done a deep scan and not found anything.  I have AVG and McAfee both on my PC.  Maybe I should try a different one.

I also recently completely uninstalled SPLAT, defragmented my SSD and reinstalled SPLAT.  I did that over Wed/Thur so I have not had the opportunity to see if I had a deteriorating segment (on an SSD???) or something on my drive.  Will post if I get that same issue of "Windows Hates You" or whatever it said.

I run the full McAffee suite on my machine. It hasn't turned up anything in its scans. I guess anything is possible. For me, it's just an annoyance. So, when it happens, I just go through the routine of copying the files from my "SPLAT Rescue" directory and go on about my business.

There has been a few threads with variations on the above message, and I myself even had this issue 2 x now. I get the message everytime I run CCC and update Sonar, but it's for Overloud.dll,, my DAW is offline other than updating Sonar and activations. I don't have anti virus other than defender which I think is off.
It's a definate bug between Windows 10 and CCC. It is not a virus.
It never happens when I update my W7 computer.

It would be nice if Cake addressed these issues.  I am sick of having to reload things to get over this issue every time I boot up SPLAT.  I thought it was a problem with my system.  If others are having it, it must be some other incompatibility.
