Cakewalk Sonar Platinum - Version: 22.7.0 BUILD 41
Windows 10 Pro - Version 1703 latest

My problem is that not all my VST plug-in are showing Sonar. I would do a scan, then it list 103. I would do another scan then it lists 93.
I have well over 700 instruments and effects installed.
Plugins like Nexus, Omnisphere, Ivory, etc, my day to day VST's I'm using is not available, which renders Sonar useless to me.

I have checked VST paths. I am using and most of the time have used both x32 and x64 Sonar. Uninstalled Sonar reinstalled Sonar x32, same problem. It is the first time after the plugin limit were fixed that i have this problem with so few plugins are listed in Sonar. Gone through all the settings for Plug-in manager.

I'm trying to figure out if I'm missing anything?
Is there something I should edit in the windows registry?
Can I manually add VST's in some file or registry?
What would be blocking these VST's from the Plugin-manager?

On the other hand I have Studio One 32bit and 64bit; and all the plugins show on startup and the same with FLStudio.

I am a fan of Sonar, there is quite a few things I like about it and I've been using it since the first release, way back in the 90's

I was going to upgrade now, but it is not going to help if I can't use my tools in Sonar!

Start by running a VST reset with logging enabled. To do this go into Preferences > File > VST Settings and hold the SHIFT key while clicking the Reset button. The log may help you figure out what is going on. The path to the VstScan.log is %appdata%\Cakewalk\Logs.

Have you, before rescanning for plugins, done a VST reset? This could help.

Also, go into your excluded plugin list and see what's in there.

Double check that ALL the paths were your plugins are installed and ensure these, and only these, are referenced in plugin manager. It searches regressively down through any sub folders so don't duplicate paths.

Thank you for the quick reply guys.

I will try the shift key option last week, but I think just to revisit that again.

I have done a reset a few times. Nothing listed under excluded items. I have double checked the paths. i tried using one path at a time before adding the rest. I have manually search for duplicate dll files and deleted them. Also tried after removing all paths and for instance only use one path for a specific vst like nexus I'm using and it does not pick it up. What I find interesting, I use jbridge for Studio One and when I point to that directory, it picks up all the vst's in the jbridge directory!!

The scanner is likely aborting due to a plugin failing to initialize. The log should pinpoint which one it is.

Open the log in Notepad (it'll be in %appdata%\cakewalk\logs) and search on "fail".

P.S. Hold the SHIFT key down while clicking the Scan Now button (rather than the Reset button).

Not exactly sure what to look for, nothing that says fail, but i've got hundreds that says the following:

VSTSCAN: ---- 600: g:\vstplugins\x32\REFX\Nexus.dll ----
VSTSCAN: [ShortPath] g:\vstplugins\x32\REFX\Nexus.dll
VSTSCAN: [RegKey] Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR\Cakewalk VST\Inventory\g:/vstplugins/x32/REFX/Nexus.dll
VSTSCAN: Previously scanned - NOT a VST plugin
VSTSCAN: WRITE VST DATA...
VSTSCAN: WRITE VST DATA - successfully updated VST plugin inventory record...

So I deleted the entries under Inventory in the registry and re-scanned the plugins.
I also get the following entries:

VSTSCAN: ---- 205: g:\vstplugins\x32\arturia\Matrix-12 V.dll ----
VSTSCAN: [ShortPath] g:\vstplugins\x32\arturia\Matrix-12 V.dll
VSTSCAN: [RegKey] Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR\Cakewalk VST\Inventory\g:/vstplugins/x32/arturia/Matrix-12 V.dll
VSTSCAN: ---- Loading VST plugin g:\vstplugins\x32\arturia\Matrix-12 V.dll ----
VSTSCAN: DLL load failed...
hPlugin is NULL, plugin failed to load with error 8, Not enough storage is available to process this command.

Do you use jBridge in SONAR?
Are the logs from 32bit or 64bit SONAR?
Are these 32bit or 64bit plug-ins?

I'm not using jBridge in Sonar at the moment.
This is 32bit version of Sonar
Paths are directed to 32bit plugins

Are you using the plug-in manager or Preferences > File > VST Settings to run the scanner? You should be using the Preferences screen.

Are you running SONAR as administrator?

The first log looks strange if it was generated by a Reset. The second could be the result of an plug-in scanned before it trashing memory. It might take moving plug-ins out of the scan path and adding them back in a little at a time to find the offending plug-in(s).

I assume you are not adding the 32bit paths to 64bit SONAR. If you are, remove them for now and see if the problem clears up there.
