Hi,
It's hard to discuss my musical tastes ... you can hear acid rock at its hardest on my collection, then you can hear ECM stuff and/or Frank Perry and his Tibetan Bells and Bowls.
To me, it's not a song, necessarily, and it just flows ... it's like sitting on the beach and the ocean comes and go ... it's a different kind of rock'n'roll that many folks are not used to play, or for some reason, don't think that music with a meter or 4/4 can not do stuff like that ... which is weirder yet!
My imagination is wild ... and it does not "enjoy" being told what it sees, thus a rock song, with its lyrics, tends to lese the effect because the music itself takes me in a direction that the lyrics seem to break for my inner vision ... and that means I will not enjoy it as much. To me, the "art" in it all, is when the INNER and the OUTER mix and take you away, and you and I both know that is a rarity ... but that is the art.
It's easy to say, that everyone's work is a match of inner and outer, but for it to work, it has to also be seen by the other folks and they need the same reaction ... and that makes me very selective when it comes to music, even though I hear just about anything, and much more than just a song, even if I don't like it, since at times there is a detail that attracts ... and that is what I live for ... and sometimes that detail is HUGE, and other times, it's not. In fact, most often it is buried in the lyrics of a song, and has little to do with the music itself in my vision.
