Although I have had it uninstall one or two of my NI plugins a year or two ago, normally the Service Center runs fine.

Even a few months ago, it was ok, but I'm gonna just avoid it for now.
Sounds like there are some issues, of which normally NI's things are pretty stable otherwise.

This just happened to me this morning. Been using the service center for months without a hitch and this morning all my VSTs were gone. Manually installed them as you all suggested and I'm back in business. I'm going to contact NI to let them know..

Not a fan of service center either. Too unpredictable. Same goes for Waves system. It seems most convoluted attempts at copy protection are more nuisance to consumer than pirates.

That sucks man, I hate to hear about others going through the same thing. This has to be a known issue with NI, however they are notoriously unresponsive when it comes to customer feedback. And their forums are like a ghost town.

Thanks sharke! I felt better knowing I wasn't the only one and that there was a solution! 'If' I hear back from NI, I'll post their response..

I posted this in the NI forum for what it's worth. So far I've gotten one reply with some pretty generic advice (check your installation paths etc). We'll see if NI themselves respond. Right now I have zero confidence in using the SC for any further updates.

Here's what I got back from NI so far:

"This can happen on a system when the installer software (the user group it belongs to) does not have the correct privileges (rights) to make proper changes. This happens normally with system that have software protecting the Registry and (operating) system files."

This doesn't make sense since I've been able to use the service center successfully in the past. Perhaps one of the recent Windows updates created a conflict with it?  They didn't offer a solution so that's my next question for them.

Yeah a conflict from a Windows Update is the only candidate I can think of since I have changed nothing since the last SC updates which would have anything to do with user permissions. This should not be happening and NI need to do more than roll out a generic response like that.

Here's their latest response:
You will need make sure to disable any Internet security software before you attempt any installation process mentioned.
Now THAT is a lame response!  I responded by telling them to stop sending stock responses and perform an actual investigation.
