what a shame! he was a guy who was still making cool records too. I think that album Hunky Dory would be in my top 100.

I had the pleasure of working with him, he was such a nice bloke with no ego hang up like others I have worked with.
R.I.P. to a true gent.

This was a big blow today ... hit me harder than I thought. Soundtrack to our lives like many other great artists I am sure we may lose from here on as musicians who were with us throughout all our life reach their 70s and older :(

News of Bowies death struck me sideways and unexpectedly because we used to cover China Girl / Lets Dance back in the late 80s in our bands. From then and in last year or so we lost a great great friend and bass player musician who played in these bands - Diarmuid Murphy aka Deadly Funky :D

Some how the two came together today and bang the tears came. This reminded me big time. Bowie live 87:

I didn't believe it when I saw this on the TV as I was preparing breakfast.

Of all the the great ones who have passed, Bowie is the biggest shock to me.

I mentioned in a post above that back in late 80s we had a band called REVOK. Just found a ropey live tape of us back in the day doing a cover of LETS DANCE. Here it is on Soundcloud.

It features Myself on Guitar, Dave Martin on Guitar, Mike O Brien on Vocals, George McDonald on Keys, Gordon Ashe on Drums AND OUR Seriously missed dear dear friend Diarmuid Murphy on Bass. Good times ..

It's very cool that he released another album on his birthday, three days ago, knowing that he would not be here. It's like a last gift to his fans. It's called Black Star.
