I had some time without the family today while the wife was attending a baby shower with my daughter and the teenager was wandering around with friends. So I was bored and decided to look for some freebie amp sim VST's to get some new guitar tones. A YouTube video filled with some really metal sounding sims led me to look up and find one to download.
I stumbled across this page:
http://pvdhp7.wordpress.com/That thing is very metal and not too versatile, but it sounds OK for it's purpose, particularly with the gain way down. I started playing around with the tone and ended up riffing some stuff out, which led to tracks, which led to layers, which led to a song.
No loops, little editing, the fretless P-bass, typical Wogg drums and sound completed in about 4 hours.
