  • Getting Addictive Drums 2 on to Sonar Platinum..... HELP!

Hello!  I recently downloaded and installed Sonar Platinum, which is up and running, however, I cannot find Addictive Drums 2 on Sonar Platinum, but it is on my computer....I can look in my directory (Win 8.1 x64) and find AD2 and open it and it seems fully functional. However, there is no Desktop icon (like for Dimension Pro x64), so after i exit the program it disappears. Obviously, I'm doing something wrong or I'm not aware of something that the Members of this Forum may be familiar with.  Side note: I've had to uninstall Platinum and reinstall all related programs 2x because when i used XLN's installer after installing Platinum there were issues: (I received a message from XLN installer saying Could not install because the Vst 32 and Vst64 plugin paths were the same) and honestly I did not really know what to do at that point, so basically I decided to install AD2 first (which seemed to work). The other thing I want to mention is that my computer is brand new all around. I have been searching the Internet as well for help and I really haven't been able to find any so your help would be greatly appreciated!

First of all...That was quick and amazing! Thank you for your effort...OK, I did exactly what you showed in your video...My problem is that Addictve Drums 2 is not listed in that drop down menu...so the program is not in the right spot, I guess...This is where it installed on my computer:    this pc> local disk (c:)>program files>xln audio>with 2 sub folders ad2 and xln online installer...like i said in first post i can click in ad2 here and it opens fully functioning...(note: I did not change the destination i installed with xln downloader, as part of the Platinum download process, so I am puzzled as to why it's not where it is supposed to be) I do think I am getting closer and if you need any more info let me know...again thank you!

How to get around the 32-bit and 64-bit problem would be create a sub-folder for each in the custom setup, 32 and 64 for each dll file.

I haven't entirely gone through the whole process of installing these drums as my preference would be to use Drumkits from Hell Superior. However when I do, I will get back to you about it.

After a bit of fiddling about, I'm none the wiser either. Curious stuff.

Try this.

Follow the instructions as they seem to have worked for me.

Clicking on the Cakewalk website download link seems to retrieve the files, it must be a licensing issue.

To get a desktop icon is relatively easy.
Right-mouse-click on the gui executable in c:Program Files XLN directory. The drop down menu will have an option to 'Show on desktop'. The path is --Send To--->Show On Desktop (create icon)

Are you sure that Sonar 64 is being used.
The .dll for AD2 will install in-- Program Files/CakeWalk/VSTplugins.

First of all--Thank-you! I did not even think to check that! I'm pretty sure it is but I am going to check! Secondly I'm sorry I'm not quicker getting back to this Forum...I was trying to figure out where the AD2 dll's were on my computer...and make pictures of them to post...(haven't figured that out yet) and I had dinner...again Thank-you for your time!

Just a guess but where ever you installed AD2 it's probably not in the

Edit->Preferences->VST.....

You'll see a list/dialog box with at least your Cakewalk vst path. You may to also add you path to the AD2 dll.

Footnote: In the XLN online installer you can change where AD2 is installed. If you change it after you've installed, just run the update and it will move the AD2 install when you directed it to (without doing a whole re-install).
