Oops... I totally forgot that not the entire world is on Spotify ;)
I don't own shares, but you really should consider. It gave my inspiration a boost...

Anyway, the song is on Soundcloud as well :

(I don't think you have to register)

Love your singing... also the acoustic bass, but the electro-drum track doesn't work for me at all...
a Jazz brush kit would be so much better... JMHO
Good luck...

I just thought the drums were a little too harsh and 'up front' for this style, and I'm not sure I like that effect on your vocals. Is that being too harsh? I really wanted to hear your voice, up close and personal. I love this style of music, been playing jazz and swing all my life, I guess I'm just used to those smokey crowded bars where you're crooned by a soft vocalist singing into a condenser with nothing but the room for the effect.
OK, went back for another listen, it's the drums. If they weren't there I think the song would have stood up just fine. Let the bass and piano provide the rhythm or hire yourself a good session jazz drummer for just brushes on a snare and hat.
It's a REALLY GOOD SONG. Four times I've listened, and the more I listen the more I love it, and your voice, suits the song to a tee. That's a good sign for me.
Please, humour me with the drummer.
Hope I haven't overstepped the line here, just tryin' to let you know that this is such a good song.
EDIT: notnat has said all this in one sentence

This is AMAZING. Has a really jazzy, electro-swing style. I love it with the piano, it's such  fantastically different deviation from the original. Wonderful job!

Edit: Also, super-congrats on making it to Spotify! I haven't heard many songs similar to this one on the CW forums.
Double-Edit: @rebel007 I personally like the synth kit! I think it makes the song both more unique and interesting, and it gives it a slightly more hip-hoppy/poppy feel than a "typical" jazz-swing song would.

Absolutely not! If I wouldn't appreciate other people's opinions, I shouldn't be here! :)

I specifically didn't want brushes and a hat. I've done that many times, and did a sing to a lot jazz tracks. And it probably will sound better even...but.... for me: it's too safe. I'm out on an adventure, much inspired by the music of Jose James, btw. I love the hip hop beats, and I love crooning and swing, and am on a quest to find a combination of both, so that I can satisfy my vocal aspirations as well as my producers aspirations, and create a new sound. Will everybody like that? I'm sure that's not the case. But reactions so far have at least been encouraging enough to explore more options. (And of course you are free to listen to my other songs on SoundCloud) :)

It's a REALLY GOOD SONG.

I cannot thank you for that, because all merits go to David Guetta and his colleagues. This is only a renditionof his world hit.
He sold millions of it. I've sold 5 so far, hahahaha.....

Thank you, Davdud101. This was exactly my intention!

I'm very familiar with the original version of this song, and I like the way you totally "deconstructed" this song and made if your own.  This must be a popular song because the wife of another forum member did an acoustic piano version of this last year.  I'm just curious how you got Spotify to allow you on their list.  Did you have to go through the Harry Fox agency?

Hey Lynn, thanx for the compliment.
Yes, if you publish a cover, it needs to be licensed. But nowadays, it couldn't be more easy than to go to https://songclearance.com/
They do all the work for you. And you'll be surprised by the fair pricing! 15$ for a license, and around 9 cents for every sold copy.

Ok, I get it a bit more, now that you have explained your direction. I am with you in taking songs in a different direction than the way others have or expect. Well done.

I love the "in your face" production.
