I really hope you get your vocal cords fixed, bill.  I'm sure that would really be difficult.

Had my tonsils removed as an adult and went through the agony of being unable to speak for two weeks. I walked around with a pad and pencil so I could communicate, which doesn't do any good on the phone. Gawd, it was frustrating!
 
So if sympathy is worth anything, you've got mine, Bill.
