When I open Sonar Platinum, and click new project, I'm getting an empty screen. I can click recent projects and existing projects and they open. I just did an update today ... any advice? I was also moving some files around from windows C to windows D ... not sure if I've messed something up. Suggestions pls

The new project uses the default template. IT may be that Sonar can't find the template if you have moved stuff around without telling Sonar where it has moved to. The templates are stored in ..\Cakewalk Content\ by default. If you moved that directory that could be the issue.

Either put your templates back where you found them, or open SONAR, press "P" on your keyboard to open Preferences, go to File|Folder Locations, and type in or navigate to the new path to your templates.

Adding to this same question, how can you have Sonar replace or recompile the templates?

Maybe reinstall SONAR? (Just guessing.)

I don't understand templates and how to put them back where I found them as suggested. There's no Cakewalk call centre to get assistance so I'm thinking about re-installing sonar plat. Is that easy to do? Basically I moved the cakewalk content from windows "C" to windows "D" data because windows C was almost full now can't open a new project. So I copied and pasted from D back to C hoping that would put things back to the way it was and still can't open a new project. So now I think my best option is to just re-install and start over. Hoping that's not too much hassle ... damn ...

Don't forget, you can make your own templates.. I never use the defualts. I've always rollwed my own.

So instead of wasting time trying to sort out where it went.. make a template and save it as such and where you want it to be.

Thanks Johnny V ... That sounds like a good answer ... but from someone who isn't too deep into understanding sonar, how do you do make a template and how would apply to solve my problem... ? Again thank you ....

In Sonar start a new project. Add what you want to it as far as audio tracks or Midi trks.

Set all your options the way you want or leave them as is.

Go to File/Save As and it will bring you to a new window. There you can choose what to save you project as in the 'Save As Type" feild under the name you will give it. Template should be the second choice.

Then choose where you will save the file.

I would do as Larry suggests and direct Sonar to find this file you just made in the 'Templates' field
