I LOVE the special =START and =END markers in Reaper for this.  They totally eliminate the fiddliness getting ready for a bounce.

Agree.
It has been feature requested numerous times.
We need special start/end markers in the marker menu for the purpose of exporting everything between the start/end markers. 

Some improvements to the "Markers" utility might be:
1. Different types of markers:
  a. Song Start/End
  b. Section Start/End
  c. CD Title Start/End
  d. etc.
2. Ability to show/hide markers, by single marker, types, multiple selections, etc.

There are many ways to do this.
 
Another option is to define a loop. Click between loop start and loop end markers...done. You don't even need to have the loop enabled; type L and the loop goes away until you type L again.

I have hotkeys assigned to Select From and Select Thru (SHIFT+F9 and SHIFT+F10)
and of course hot keys for Previous Marker and Next Marker (F7 and F8)
and I drop markers (M) called Begin and End
 
So I CTRL+A to select all
(note: Seemingly must be in the upper part of track view, meaning not focused on the bus pane
so...I always tap on the first filder right before CTRL+A)
stand on (to jump past all song markers to the last) F8 to next marker (Last=End) then SHIFT+F10
stand on (to jump past all song markers to the first) F7 to Previous Marker (First=Begin) then SHIFT+F9
ALT+F+E+A to export audio which is pointed to a folder containing shortcuts to all current project mix folders.

Very fast.

Why I save this step for mastering. 
Soooo easy to top and tail in a Wave editor,, And apply a fade out to get rid of any possible artifacts like cut off notes which Sonar is famous for.
