If 80's you were shooting for 80's you got. Great mix. I was especially impressed with the bass. It comes out well in the higher ranges and the bass runs are excellent. Not to diminish the rest of the mix which was good as well.

Dear Daryl,

thanks for listening! Fresh and lively is what we were going for! Almost a contradiction, right, trying to sound 80s and fresh at the same time...but you need to try anyway!

Dear Freddy,

oh my god! The Cars are - to me - one the best bands ever. Boston's finest (and yes, I know that Aerosmith are from Boston, too), and Ric Ocasek and Ben Orr are my vocal heroes. I feel flattered! But I must deny that my mediocre vocal performance can stand up against Sting...

Dear John,

what else could you say? Maybe "at least a song from you in a language I can understand"! Thanks for listening!

Dear Starise,

thanks a lot! I am glad you mentioning the bass - it was actually my Telecaster guitar plugged into the "guitar to bass sim" which is included in the BR-80 recorder! I originally wanted to use it just as a sketch and record the real bass guitar later, but kind of liked it as it was and kept it! I guess I overdid the Eqing a bit and added too much low end (maybe knowing that it is really a guitar and wanted to cover up), for I noticed that the track is significantly quieter than some tracks I did which were mastered in a similar way. I guess the heavy low end eats up a lot of energy and makes it sound quieter overall...

Rock Like Heaven definitely reminds me of 80's which - nowadays again - is a good thing. I wouldn't have courage to use that kind of clean guitars but you did it well and vocals fit perfectly in the style. One thing I don't understand is how you can tell a story in a minute when it takes 10 minutes and parts from a to z to do the same. :D

Great energy and fun to listen!

Hi Tom,
Really good job on this tune!  Sounds great to me.  Here is a link to my group from 1980.  Check out "I I Me Me".

Tom,
You absolutely created that 80's atmosphere here! Yeah, all those bands like Killing Joke, New Model Army, The Mission, The Alarm, Souxsie and Banshees...too many to name... what a time! I can actually smell the hair gel and the smokey new wave/punk clubs. Yes, it was still allowed to smoke cigarettes inside bars and clubs then. ...Bizarre Festival 1987 Loreley, Germany, I was there ...sorry, I'm drifting away here..
Your chorused guitar sounds great in this version. It actually makes all the difference. Fantastic!

Keep on rockin' !

Dear Panup,

thanks for listening! Funny, when I listen to your stuff, it is the other way around: why play for ten minutes, when you can dial up the speed and tell the story in a minute too bad I don't have your drummer Karsten here for drum recordings, I bet he would spice things up!

Dear Rimshot,

Sue Saad! Cool songs, somewhere between Blondie and the Knack. Which one of the band is you? I must admit that I have never heard of you over here. Did you have some success with the band?

Dear Daniel,

thanks a lot! I have checked the line up for the Bizarre Festival 1987 - what a great line-up. Siouxsie and the Banshees are among the bands I always wanted to see live. and the setting on the Loreley is just great! Please let me know when you come to Frankfurt, you can join me and my band so we could play some Cure-songs

Ha! Easier to say than do it... You're just like my good friend who makes tight 2-3 min classic rock tunes. In my song intro ain't over while he's already done.
Good thing in long tunes: you have to rehearse less songs for the gig.
And bad thing: you can split 45 minutes of your music to 15 individual songs for iTunes. I'd have barely four songs. You'll earn much more when people buy our singles...:D

The bed is all punk but those vocals have the Hooters all over them.

The bass sounds way too full for the 80s (man did they ever drop the bottom out of music back then!), but the stops you did left me a bit jarred.
