Mine Ears Have Heard The Glory Of Mixbus
Been messing around with Mixbus solidly since yesterday, I can't explain it, but I can hear it as plain as day now. It's just a simple test thing with drums, bass, guitars and vocals, I just can't not hear the difference now. The bass guitar is just so much better, as Clint mentioned above was one stand out for him, it just sounds really good, drums also, more so the toms, although it is noticeable on the whole kit, the toms I especially liked. Guitar, slightly distorted tone, I'm noticing a difference, seemingly not as profound as with the rest, vocals also, but I hate my vocals/voice, so I'm not dwelling on that. I'm not very good at explaining things, but if I had to try, I'd say something like, more solid, punchier, more 'real', something along those lines. But it is most definitely there.
As to the portaudio thing, as it turns out no I never touched that, that is how it is set. But I can say that I never had one issue with Mixbus during my time with it from yesterday. I didn't try to use any VST's (no that's a lie, I did use Waves EMI TG12345 on the master) but nothing else, just purely importing stems and using what is in Mixbus channel strips, EQ, Comp, Saturation etc. I can tell you the first couple of times I closed the program I was taking it nice and easy, not wanting to have to go through the rebooting again, waiting a little after I saved before hitting the close button, but by the end I was treating it like any other, and not a crash. Very happy with that. I guess it's onward and upward from here.
