so if NI thinks their Service Center is "so called" what are we supposed to think?????

Most of their free products in the past became pay products later (Replica, Driver, Supercharger, etc) so the serial # lays the groundwork for that, I think.

If they didn't call it a "service" you might think it was a convoluted procedure for proving that you are not a criminal, for assuring that NI gets paid, and occasionally getting in the way of you enjoying your purchase.
 
But of course it's a "service"! Exactly like someone serving you a meal (or unclogging your plumbing or performing a colonoscopy). Just one trivial difference: you are the server.

This morning I ran the service center and noticed there was a Reaktor update I hadn't installed, so I clicked install and everything went fine. Just now I tried to load some projects and all my instances of Reaktor are saying they cannot locate their ensembles. Great. So I open the service center again and would you credit it? The damn thing won't connect to the internet. Thanks NI. 

I just recently updated Flash as well, I wonder if that's giving the Service Center problems because it's a Flash based app (or at least it used to be).

I just purchased the Komplete 10 update, and neither the downloader or Service Center can connect...
