Hi Everyone,

Generally I am able to sort things out myself but today has been difficult. I am running Win7 and keeping my Sonar up to date. My Computer is working fine and I have no problems with any other programs. In the past I have had some problems but today has been more than odd.

All of my Roland Equipment stopped working. A GI-20 guitar synth interface, a KR-33 midi piano, used a a controller, and a Handsonic 10 drum unit.

I have been able to get the GI-20 working by re-installing the drivers. However the Handsonic will not work and the KR-33 seems to have a mind of it's own. I have checked the midi cables and they are fine. I have checked all assignations under preferences and they seem normal.

Thank Goodness I have a M-Audio KeyRig 49 that works perfectly well and has suffered no problems what so ever. I have been working at this for over 8 hours and I have only accomplished getting the GI-20 working.

If anyone has any ideas I would be very appreciative. Everything has worked well in the past.

Regards,

John

Well..................I finally was able to make everything work. I wish I could tell everyone how, in case they had the same problem, but the process was quite illogical. Nothing is set any differently than it was before...........as far as I know.

I reinstalled all my various drivers numerous times. In desperation I went through the process one "last" time. I once more decided to re-scan my plug-ins. There was one that the computer warned was unstable and that it would be "risky" to install it, so again I didn't and bypassed it.

Low and behold my keyrig worked. I very trepidatiously tried my other components and to my great relief they all worked in Sonar. Hopefully all the other Sonar functions will work as well.

To me, solving these problems is more a matter of stamina and stubborness than skill. Next time I will sacrifice a couple of pigeons in advance of trying to fix these problems as they seem to have as much to do with voodoo as anything else.

Just wondering,,, at any point did you do either of these things

Move USB cables. Often moving a cable to a different usb port will screw up the driver
Re start your computer. Poeple often forget that a lot of stuff won't stick until you re boot, even if your not prompted to.

Hi Johnny,

Thank you for your comments.

No I did not reroute anything. I only use my music computer for music. It is normally not connected to the internet, and is only connected when I need to update or download a music program.

I did recently attach a new mouse, but it was a simple exchange. There was no software or drivers to install. I always restart my computer after making changes.
