Okay that's a provocative title. I own a platinum subscription, but I cant upgrade because of CommandCenter. That last version of Platinum I was able to install on this computer was 2017.02. I'm stuck on that version and dont know how to move forward. Every time I try to update Sonar, I get "Setup files are corrupted" error.
- this is a windows 10 box
- I am using that computer to write this message
- this is the same Sweetwater Sound built rackmount computer I've run on since Pro Audio 9
- I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling CommandCenter
- I've tried setting the reducing the max connections from 3 to 2.
- I've tried moving the CommandCenter download path directory around, even to a different disk
- I've tried deleting and re-dowloading the files via CommandCenter
- I've tried turning off Defender virus protection, both real-time scanning and firewall.
- I just did an internet speed test and the result is 55.0 Mbps download, 10.3 Mbps upload, with a 65 ms latency. There are no other devices streaming or operating.
- I have 300G free space on my system drive, and even more on data drives
- This morning I've tried about 5 times right clicking on "Sonar Platinum" and selecting download. It starts to download but silently quits each time. I do see that the file size for SONAR_Platinum_Setup_23.9.0.31 changes with every attempt. It's never downloading the entire file.
- I have numerous other apps on this computer. I download and upload content bundles all the time. This update problem is specific only to Cakewalk CommandCenter.
I want to jettison CommandCenter. Whatever error it is having it is not recovering from. So it is 100% blocking my ability to update this computer. It's not re-trying downloads in the background. It's not attempting to reconnect after an error. I can use CommandCenter from my Windows 7 laptop just fine. So there is something specific to this Windows 10 computer. It stopped working after I updated to 2017.2. But why CommandCenter isn't able to reliably download, I don't know. I don't know how else to debug it. I did install Band In A Box via the Internet on this computer which was a 4-6 hour download. So again, it's problem specific to CommandCenter only.
So here's the question: How do I update Sonar manually? Do I copy the exe's CommandCenter download on my laptop and run them here? Do I copy them into the CommandCenter download folder and somehow tell CommandCenter to just install what's already there?
Thank you for any suggestions!!
best,
Tim
