Rimshot
hey Kenny, make sure the damper is open!

@Rimshot ,
Wound up learning that lesson from someone else's  hard learned experience ...still can't even erase it from my mind.
Spent a long weekend in Woodstock NY w my girlfriend of that time .Her brother had a really nice house that he let us use .
We would go out and play in the snow and keep a fire lit the whole time we were there .
The following weekend her roommate drove up from NYC to use the house to unwind ....
She left the damper shut , lit a fire and they wound up having to paint the whole interior ...
I felt real bad for her because that's exactly the same type of innocent mistake I would have made myself ...

Hey Rimshot I wish you Happy Holidays

I plan on buying some firewood and lighting up my fireplace for a little Christmas Spirit and ambiance .

YIKES! MOVE THAT GUITAR BEFORE YOU LIGHT IT!!!

Hi Dave ,
Yes Sir , I got your memo
I don't even like putting that guitar on a stand . My dog is a leaner ...
Been working on a new tune and it has been nice to pull it out of the case and use it again .
I figured hey ,for what I don't have in cash or family during this Holiday Season , I still have so much to be grateful for...
I figured why not snap a pic to share here in jbow's thread ....even if it is low rezz ....

I hope you have a Wonderful Happy Holiday ,

Kenny

Wow, she's probably very lucky to be alive!  If she wasn't paying enough attention, it's easy to get carbon monoxide poisoning and just go to sleep never to wake up again...

That is a very good point you bring up Craig
To her credit she was a very clear headed person that lives in the moment .... (she taught Tai Chi ) ...
If I remember correctly what happened , she may have unpacked her car and light the fire while she was still somewhat fresh from the 2 hour drive  ..
Yes , thankfully she got on the phone quick and put the fire out ..Nobody was the least bit mad at her...
They were gonna paint the interior of the house anyway since they were thinking of selling it .
I felt bad for her because she took it so hard and beat  herself up for making such a simple mistake...
( I would have made myself at the time )
My GF thought it was funny .At the time she may have even used it as leverage because I was living in my van at the time so I wound up hitting the couch a lot  even though they had a no dudes policy
I got to admit the gal that smoked up the house started resenting me less for couch surfing after that .
Interestingly enough she loved my German Shepherd Rex . Rex was about 5 years old living in the van with me when he wasn't couch surfing
I decided to give the roommate ( Cindy ) Rex , then soon after I drove out to California to start a new chapter in my life ....
That woman love Rex so much ,  and those two had a wonderful life together .
I count giving Rex up to her as one of the smartest things I ever did in my life .

That is the only thing that makes it good Karyn! I have learned to give what I want to give instead of what I'm expected to give. It was a hard lesson. About 30 years ago when we were still making payments from the last Christmas when the new one showed up.. well, that was a big lesson.
It does give joy to give. Thank you.

Everyone... I'm glad I'm not the only one I think it gets confusing and at some point I just turn off all the noise. I really is a nice time of year.

RAIN.... wow. I am sure you will land on your feet. If all else fails, move to Atlanta. It is growing, has great weather, a good music scene between ATL and Athens... and they are building a HUGE park a few miles from where I live Lakepointe, plus a Hollywood company is building a Hunger Games themed virtual reality park (750 acres) with an amphitheater, two hotels, two shopping malls, Lakepointe is building a Bass Pro Shop.. so there are going to be LOTS of opportunities around here.
I hope everyone else lands well, man... I'm sure you will do well though. Cirque should be helping it's people and I bet they will step up as much as they can. They seem to be that sort of company... but, hey! Come on down! You'd be welcome around here!

Keep us posted. I was wondering where you were yesterday. I haven't seen you much lately. Try to not worry, you're young and life always has twists and turns. You are not a slouch, you'll be fine... just keep your wife feeling secure, I'm sure she'll need an extra hug now and then.

jbow, I feel the same way about hiding. I'm not really a social creature. I'm a creature who has learned to be social.

I'm sorry to hear about some of the people here going through tough times. This time can certainly be a sad reminder. If you are close to someone like this maybe reach out to them. I'm dealing with my wife who lost the last parent living this past year. The first parent passed away not long ago. I want to wish everyone here a good holiday, I hope you can still  enjoy it.

For me the holiday really has no extreme significance any more, other than the reminder that we have hope, and hope is good.

The day is historically jaded. At one time it was a long drunken Roman orgy with human sacrifice... Then the Catholic church came along and decided to use the day for themselves calling it Christ-MASS. Then at some point the Protestants adopted it. Somehow over the years it has evolved , or maybe more accurately devolved into what it is now. A catholic saint became St Nicholas and evolved into Santa Claus...and he is the guy most kids resonate with lol. Merchants saw a money making opportunity and this was the catalyst for what Christmas has become.

If the day points a person to hope, then I think that's a good thing. I think hope is always out there. If the day rubs commercialism and the worst of human nature in your face then it has a negative effect. It really is what we make of it.

It comes and goes faster the older I get. Less than a week now and we won't see it again until October  Down time  time at the end of the year is nice!

Best wishes to all!

Thanks, my friend.

You know, the funny thing is that just a few days ago, we were watching a silly movie which takes place in Atlanta and surrounding areas. It's rare that I pay much attention to those things, but it sure made a favorable impression on me as I found myself telling my wife that we really needed to visit Atlanta/Georgia someday.

As for the show... Ultimately, it all boils down to MGM wishing to take a different direction w/ the Aria. I'm not sure Cirque would have pulled the plug on that show just yet otherwise.

They will obviously try and assign people to different shows, and offer them assistance finding work. By a strange twist of fate, it's actually a good thing that my wife underwent surgery last month and is off for the next few months, as it allows her to spend her time and energy making plans and preparing for the future. She has many options, and so much talent...

Another strange twist of fate is that the car accident last January was sort of a blessing in disguise, as the insurance money came in just around the right time - worst case scenario is not as bad as it could have been otherwise.

Yet another coincidence is that I finally got my Social Security number the morning of the day they announced they were pulling the plug on the show. So I've actually started applying for jobs, including a job at Cirque which was  advertised the very next morning.

I guess I'm a man of many funny coincidences, uh? :)
