So these last few months I've had no luck getting in contact with Cakewalk Support. I have upgraded to a new laptop/Windows 10, Intel 7 8gb ram, 1tb hard drive. 2.8-3.5ghz
I'm using the Scarlett 2i4 interface. Sonar x3 64bit

I had no issues on my windows 8.1 platform with midi

I have downloaded/upgraded everything that i can possibly think of, even some programs I've never used.

Since purchasing this laptop/re installing countless times, I have had major problems with latency via Midi and USB.
I've also had crashes due to the NEW medolyne 4 update. Causing sonar to not Open, i have had to uninstall medolyne due to this problem. I have never experienced these problems

Here's the deal, my setup/ASIO/Buffer size, I have tried EVERY setting Khz, Millsecs, every option available
And i always have this half second delay, I used to be able to adjust easily, but now every option available, If i set it to the lowest depth i experience complete Audio dropouts, if it even decides to play!

I am out of options from what i have researched these last 4 months
it's to the point I am willing to throw out the $500 what i paid for sonar producer, for Abeleton Live 9, I've been a loyal cakewalk dude for 12 years. With no Customer support and all these problems. 
I'm needing some help how to solve this problem.
It may be something simple. I have already tried a NEW project without any FX. That didnt solve, Regardless I've had nothing but Latency and i am unable to record midi with sonar. Not cool

To solve the problem, try to find where it is...
a) are you sure you do not have the delay in the audio part?
1) Create simple project, add one audio track, set input to 2i4.
2) connect e-guitar/mic to the interface, set gain level so it works. Disable "echo" for the track and check you have no sound from speakers. Now turn "echo" on. How big is the delay you get this way, compare to the MIDI delay you have?
 
(if, and only if, audio delay is way less then what you experience with MIDI)
 
b) is the delay inside Sonar or somewhere else?
1) insert a simple soft synth, SI-Electric Piano. On its keyboard, play with mouse. Is there significant dalay?
2) open Sonar "virutual controller". Try to play there. Is the delay different?
 
If there is no delay so far, it is somewhere in Windows... but please give us more information to narrow the direction.

Have you explicitly checked that Gaming mode is disabled? I had all kinds of weird things (including MIDI input delay!) when I by occasion had it "on"

Okay I tried everything you just described, I have no delay at all when i use my mouse. Only when I play my midi instruments, Edrums/Keyboard.
With the mic, it is 100%. with the echo its what it's supposed to be, almost like a doubler, not a terrible delay or anything like midi.

I'm not sure if i have gaming mode on?? I have only ran sonar alone without any other programs running in the background.
If it is windows, that's a whole new road on fixing the problem if it's not Sonar. I've also had crashes with the new medolyne, I've had to open files in safe mode to remove medolyne i used for midi

Zargg! Hey brother, So i did do the latencyMon, Turns out my computer settings were set to balanced and not High performance, and my graphics was causing bad problems! Thanks for the info

Enable or disable Game Mode by default
Open the Settings Menu by clicking the cogwheel icon to the left of the Start menu.Click on Gaming.Click on Game Mode.Toggle Use Game Mode

This thing is EVIL
In most cases, people find it is set "On" by default.
 
And from your answers, something is wrong before MIDI is entering Sonar. Have you tried in a stand-along synth?
