  • Gritty little ditty, a VERY old (2000) project redone with X3

Hi folks.
I was just curious to see if X3 would even load this project, it was recorded in 2000 using Cakewalk Guitar Tracks and saved as a bundle file. Previous versions of SONAR wouldn't even open it. It opened in X3 like it was recorded yesterday.
I remixed it a little using the tools we have available in X3 now, then "mastered" it with Ozone 5. No matter your opinion of it now, trust me, it sounds a lot better than it did!
It's called "Touchit!"
BTW: the drums are the old "Drum Drops" loops. Anybody else remember those?

Haha I like this Rs. I was listening and saying to myself "man, this needs a nice lead" and bang, you added one. Hahaha! A little hot on the hats to me...sort of takes away some of the beauty and adds a little annoyance factor (sorry to say that) but other than the excessive hats ...this is pretty killer. I even like the effected snare like it is. You'll probably get a few telling you it's a bit too much....but I dig stuff like that. Just take care of those hats and this is a winner. :) Nice job and happy holidays to you too!

Nice song with groovy drums. I think the bass needs to come up a bit, Im listening on my laptop though. Great guitar playing with parts that fits well together!

Drum Drops on vinyl... I still have 4 or 5 albums... I used them quite a bit in the '80s...
a funky little number here... good fun...

Love it, funky! Drums sound great to me actually, they suit the track perfectly. Man, that bass is smoking..

I'll admit that when you told us how old it was and that it was an old project, my expectations were pretty low. I was pleasantly surprised! I don't know exactly what you did to it in X3 or what it sounded like before but the end result is good. The bass line was good and kicked even in my headphones. I like funk anyways and so this was a real pleasure.

I picked up on the hats being a little much as well but nothing that broke the tune IMO. I got some minor glitching in the playback but maybe this was the streaming on sounclick.  I am getting some similar behavior from a few recent tracks I'm working on. I think I may need to defrag my HD. It sounded similar to that.

Thanks for sharing!

RS, Nice little funky piece you have here. It all sounds good to me and I too like the big drums. I have never even heard of Drum Drops, but they sound good in this and the guitar playing fits the piece perfect. Very nice mix and the piece hold your attention very well. Nicely done. Have a great Christmas Holiday and thanks for sharing.

Peace and Blessings, John
